[identity profile] unwoundfantasy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] hogwartsishome
Okay everyone! Sorry I didn't get this up yesterday afternoon, some hectic scheduling got in the way. :) Voting for the First HiH Who's Who is behind the cut! As an incentive to increase voting and gain accurate results, you will earn one point for your house by participating!

DIRECTIONS: Please comment below (the comments are screened) with the numbers of each match. For the first eleven, simply vote a "YES" or "NO", whatever you feel is right according to what you know of the nominee, coupled with the nomination explanation. For the rest, simply pick one of the nominees. Good luck everyone!!

1. [livejournal.com profile] jupluna = Severus Snape?
The Nomination Description: Juppy is a Slytherin in the purest sense of the word, yet she doesn't let that trip her up in her community activity. She's extraordinarily loyal and does what is right first and foremost, not what is best for herself. She loves helping out her own house, but knows that in the long run, every student is in need of a good experience. Throw in the flair for snark and I can't imagine anyone else better suited for our beloved Snape!

2. [livejournal.com profile] zentraedi_shep = Bertha Jorkins?
The Nomination Description: Hum, I’m trying to do this without seeming rude or make anyone offended (male being pinned as a female character. outrage!and without making enemies but I believe that zentaedi_shep is like Bertha Jorkins. The Bertha Jorkins as depicted in the Harry Potter books is the eptimone of a one-person rumour mill and presumably upset a lot of people. The zentraedi_shep that I’ve seen is an active participator in HiH (duelling club assistant) but it seemed that he made it his goal for a period of time to publicly announce his views, and succeeded.

3. [livejournal.com profile] hxcpunkchick = Percy Weasley?
The Nomination Description: Oh goodness, Percy Weasley but not because she’s annoying or because she has red hair (because I wouldn’t know about that) but because she’s organised or at least committed to doing something. She keeps tabs on the Slytherins and helps out the absent minded. To be committed enough to do what she does and keep track of things displays a great amount of pedanticness (which is not unappreciated!). She also reads into the sorting applications when she sorts and actually thinks about where she’s putting people which to me is a very academic, perfectionist thing and just screams Percy Weasley.

4. [livejournal.com profile] asahii = Salazar Slytherin?
The Nomination Description: Nika is a strong Slytherin, and she has an old-world Harry Potter charm about her. She is always coming up with new ideas to improve the "school", and voices them proudly. She stands behind her convictions and isn't afraid to tell others exactly what she thinks of them.

5. [livejournal.com profile] anodein82 = Lily Evans?
The Nomination Description: Nothing but a Gryffindor character would do for my Gryffindor-half, Lori. She is very protective of her family and close friends, and will even sacrifice things to make others happy. She sticks up for the underdog, much like Lily does for Severus when being taunted by the "Marauders." Lily dislikes James at first because of his arrogance, something that Lori also doesn't care for. As an added note, Lori is engaged to a man named James. Coincidence? I think not. Lily was also a good, model student as she was made Head Girl her seventh year. Lori also excelled in school and does well in leadership positions (I should know, I've been her boss before...)

6. [livejournal.com profile] funn_bunn_83 = Molly Weasley?
The Nomination Description: Molly Weasley is a mother and a comforter. She can set down the rules of the house tough as can be, but can be comforting a hurt child the next moment. She protects her own fiercely. I think all our mods have some Molly in them, but Bunny has the most. All the newly sorted are made to feel welcome, her posts here are kind, but there's no being scared to remind us little Weasleys Bunnies of the rules. And, like all mothers and mother figures, under-appreciated. :)

7. [livejournal.com profile] esso = Helga Hufflepuff?
The Nomination Description: Esso is one of the most accepting people in the world. She is a warm welcoming person who treats people with respect regardless of their status. Esso represents to me what it is to be a Puff--steadfast, grounded, balanced, hard-working, compassionate... but like a badger, she can fend for herself. Strength, independence, integrity, fairness--these are all qualities that I imagine Helga would have possessed. Like Helga, Esso is a leader for her house. Even though we've been told little about Helga, I can't help but imagine her to be much like our own Hufflepuff prefect.

8. [livejournal.com profile] siriuslyxmental = Lee Jordan?
The Nomination Description: if riley were actually at hogwarts she would totally be in with the twins. she's not quite as well known as the twins are, but she shares their sense of humor. they are both the kind of people who will blurt out what they are thinking and then when they are asked to stop or fix it, will say something even worse! she doesn't have to be the mastermind behind the plan, but she really hates to be left out of a good prank or joke.

9. [livejournal.com profile] ainu_laire = Aberforth Dumbledore?
The Nomination Description: Suvi is one of those wonderful people who you sometimes think might not exist. Then, you happen to glance into a dark corner, and there she is, sometimes muttering to herself. She's one of the enigmas of Hogwartsishome--no one ever knows quite where she is or what she is doing. Sometimes she seems wise beyond her years, other times a wee bit mad. Because she sometimes disappears for stretches of time, when her name pops up, people have this feeling that it is vaguely familiar, but they can't quite place it...

10. [livejournal.com profile] prettyveela = Pansy Parkinson?
The Nomination Description: We honestly don't know that much about Pansy. So I have to use a bit of imagination here. Generally speaking, PV makes a good Pansy because she's a typical Slytherin. She's a great friend to those she befriends and has a true disdain of stupid people. She's fond of wank, which I figure would be right up Pansy's alley. Housemates before others, unified front - and still her own person. She's also smart enough to hang with the "right" people... Sorry, that was my own snarky humour showing. There's no doubt in my mind - PV would be the perfect Pansy Parkenson.

11. [livejournal.com profile] c8kesniffer_cor = Luna Lovegood?
The Nomination: Well, to start, Cordi and Luna are both Ravenclaws and both have the "wit and learning" that characterize our house. My perception of Luna has always been as a rather spacey girl and a bit of a tinhat, but someone who is still very kind, a good friend, has a good sense of humor and is smart. Cordi is definitely all of those things. She is one of my very best LJ friends and always around to beta my fics or squee over the Daily Show or Countdown or 360. Cordi can be slightly strange at times (but in an adorable way), and even she is willing to admit to a bit of harmless tinhattery (more related to RPS than Crumpled Horned Snorcacks, though ^^). Also, Luna shows an interest in journalism and quite a bit of press savvy when she helps to organize Harry's interview in The Quibbler. Cordi is definitely also interested in journalism and she's an excellent writer. In my opinion, they are both excellent Ravenclaws and very, very similar.

Remember! Pick only one for each Character!

12. Hermione Granger
[livejournal.com profile] intotheheart -- Hermione is intelligent and brave, witty yet logical, level-headed yet not someone you would to go poke in the eye. She is a wonderful friend and housemember, and is determined to stick to anything she signs up for. Take S.P.E.W for example. Not everyone would continue to raise their voice when so many have ignored them. But Hermione stays with it.
Laura is an amazing person, and I admire her greatly. Witty, funny, she goes beyond the call of duty. She is always there to voice her opinion and give counsel. She enjoys being involved with our activities. She exemplifies many of the qualities that is listed above for Hermione.
One of her shining moments was during the Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff game. I believe we can all fairly say that the game was a disaster. Many players from a team did not listen to reason, and turned the game into a circus. While many where on the boiling point and showed it, Laura stayed in control and kept a handle on the game. While I'm sure she was pulling her hair out, she didn't let it show. Laura did not let a few problems fazed her and kept the game running as smoothly as it possibly could be run. A very Hermione thing to do. And for this, Laura is a stunning Gryffindor.

[livejournal.com profile] tangerinesidhe -- the obvious is that she is a gryffindor prefect like hermione. there are other similarities between the two though. destiny is an intelligent person. she goes to an ivy league college and takes classes because she thinks that the material will be interesting to learn, not necessarily because it is practical. she likes to read a lot and she makes book recommendations to her friends--and the books are from a lot of different genres: science, biography, philosophy, children's, poetry... i noticed that when destiny got sorted here there were a few people who thought she seemed a little 'clawish, just like the hat thought about hermione. however, destiny agrees with hermione's comment about friendship being more important than books and cleverness. she really cares a lot about her friends and will go to great lengths to help them. it hurts her a lot when she gets into fights with them. sometimes she falls victim to her emotions too easily, especially when it comes to crying. she gets nervous when people are doing things that they shouldn't be doing--and she'll try to talk them out of it--but if she doesn't succeed she'll end up following along so she can help out with any trouble that pops up. sometimes she's a little bit of a control freak. she likes to point out other people's mistakes. it really irritates her when people fail to read the rules or when she has to repeat herself (ie. when hermione has to tell people that you can't apparate inside of hogwarts grounds). they are both nerdy, passionate, witty, skeptical, and fierce when they have to be *and* gryffindors! who better to be hogwartsishome's hermione?
And a second nomination for [livejournal.com profile] tangerinesidhe stated: As meeting Destiny not too long ago, her characteristics do stand out, and not in a bad way. She’s a very intelligent person, and is always on top of things, just like Hermione. She’s also very thoughtful, and helpful, when someone is endanger, or needs some beneficial advice. I find that she has many different types of personality traits, that Hermione does. She can be very quick to correct you, if you are wrong, but not in a i-know-more-than-you-and-i’m-right way. She will even give you the webpage/page number she found the information on, so you can see first-hand. As Hermione, Destiny will not let people mess with her friends. She will stand up and fight for them if she has too. Personally I think Destiny does portray the many qualities Hermione does have, whether it be intelligence, knowledge, courage, passion, or personality. And I think that it will take her far in the future.
And a third nomination for [livejournal.com profile] tangerinesidhe stated: I was going to nominate Destiny as Fred or George but then I realized she would be more fitting as Hermione instead. First off, she’s smart enough to get an education at an Ivy League school (Columbia anyone?) because she’s awesome like that. She’s very intelligent and likes to use big words. I hate looking up big words. She’s all about facts. If someone says something that’s incorrect, she is all about putting the right word out and will give you a page reference for that information. But like Hermione, the reason she's not a Ravenclaw is because she knows that some things in life are more important than book smarts and learning...like house points! She’s one of the main reasons I’m a point piggie. She's very motivated and organized which makes her the awesome Prefect she is at the moment. She even has a little calendar type deal set up telling the Gryffindors when certain deadlines are and what not. I’ve also learned that when she was in high school, most of her friends were boys. She hates to get into trouble, but if her friends are going to go on an adventure nothing will keep her from being by their side, except for maybe petrification. I mean, who wants to be petrified? That would suck hardcore. She's also strongly opinionated, believes firmly in social justice, and if you push her far enough she just might punch you in the face. Watching people being punched in the face is quite amusing...especially if Hermione/Destiny is giving them out. At times people may think she's too sirius, but I think she's just one kickass chica. Destiny for Hermione in 2005!

[livejournal.com profile] queenmeesh07 -- Yes, yes, I'm sure there will be a lot of competition in the Hermione category. But let me just say, my friend Michelle epitomizes Hermione. Obviously, she's a major brainiac. She is one of the brightest girls I know. She maintains straight A's, and is ranked in the top 5 of her class. This girl loves school and everything about it. She has this insatiable hunger for learning that sometimes makes me give her funny looks >_<. When choosing our courses for the next year, she picked not one, but three advanced science courses. In fact, she ended up with too many credits and had to do some schedule adjustment. Otherwise, she would've had to be in two places at once (Hmm, sound familiar?). Meesh also has to deal with the daily stupidity of teenage boys, particularly one very emo boy, her closest guy friend. It aggravates her, but she takes it all in stride, keeping them in line. All the while, she mumbles under her breath about how foolish and insensitive they are. Meesh is bold, even though she might not show it often. She is not afraid to say what's on her mind, or to speak up about an issue. She doesn't have a SPEW, but she does have a soft spot when it comes to the AIDS epidemic in Africa. She doesn't like to break the rules (rarely will you find her in class late or without her homework), but she will bend them if the need arises. Like Hermione, Michelle is often forgotten about in regards to attractiveness and datability. ("Hello?! I'm a girl!!"). But when she pretties herself up she can really wow the crowd. Overall, I can not think of a better candidate for the Hogwarts is Home Hermione than queenmeesh07. She is brilliant, witty, bold, and compassionate. She just screams Hermione from her toes up to her unruly, kinky hair (when she doesn't straighten it that is).

13. Fred/George Weasley
[livejournal.com profile] _becca_ -- God, who doesn't love Becca? She's insanely funny, a great worker, a bold and brash Gryffindor; she's our cheerleader!
If you say that you cannot picture Becca chanting "WE GOT POTTER, WE GOT POTTER!" at the Sorting Feast, or "HE GOT OFF, HE GOT OFF!" after Harry gets off after the hearing, you'd be lying not only to yourself, but to humanity. She's the boldest, proudest and loudest of us all. She teaches our lions to roar!
She's a Beater like Fred (or George) and loves to play pranks like the Weasley twins. Who didn't see her spamming our friends' pages with posts about getting the Puffs? She's our point-piggie and proud of it.
However, she can get down to business just like the Weasley twins. When it's time to be serious, she'll get down to work and do what she needs to do. But most of the time she'll crack a joke to make us laugh. But she can be serious. Sort of.

[livejournal.com profile] aurora_borialis -- Aurora is much like George (or Fred for that matter, but I had to pick one, heh :p) She's always in for something fun. Heck, she usually *brings in* the fun. She doesn't sit around in a corner waiting for something to happen, she *makes* it happen. Like she's done a couple of times at hihrpg. She's very creative and enthusiastic and has a way of transferring her enthusiasm to other people. And she loves playing Quidditch.

14. Cedric Diggory
[livejournal.com profile] hackergroupie -- I certainly see hackergroupie as having the possibility to be a character from a book. Then I realised that I was thinking of the wrong book series and she actually reminded me of someone else entirely. But after much consideration and me being a perfectionist, I decided that Hackergroupie would suit the role of (I know she’s going to be disappointed) Cedric Diggory. The reason for this being that she is extremely encouraging with regards to house spirit and participation and I believe that house spirit is embodied by Cedric Diggory, and our dear hackergroupie is the Slytherin equivalent.

[livejournal.com profile] wyldcolt45 -- Wyldcolt45 (or AJ) is very much a white hat. He roots for the underdog and is one of those guys who will help others out at every opportunity. He is also cynical and stubborn. He'll defend his beliefs and not back down from a fight. At the same time, he's fair and will treat those who are like minded justly. While he is competitive, he's someone who, like Cedric, will share his 'insider' information. I always imagine that if AJ were in a situation such as Cedric was in during GoF, he'd behave in the same manner.

15. Remus Lupin
[livejournal.com profile] possibilities -- A very, very, very reliable little being who seems to have a talent for trivia and therefore is unfalteringly intelligent and she’s also fun. Possibilities makes a great effort to her house and to the community to be a great person and participant, and she succeeds which is how I see Lupin having done in PoA ( in regards to his students looking past his lycanthrope because they appreciate him). Possibilities is willing to step in, and a generous person which I also see to be a Lupin-like trait, as well as intellect.

[livejournal.com profile] hey_lena -- The reason why this person exemplifies the traits of said character:
Hey_lena, my prefect, and the leader fo the Ravenclaw house reminds me greatly of Remus Lupin. Not much is known about Lupin, personally, but we do learn much about his character, and how he is a leader. Dumbledore made him a prefect(like hey_lena) but he was still a fun and really relaxed person(like hey_lena). Now we in the Ravenclaw house can get a bit lazy, but hey_lena always knows the right owrds to motivate, and has a lot of compassion(similar to Lupin). Lupin is the backbone, a very real and solid part of the Order of the Phoenix. We in Ravenclaw would be lost without our prefect, hey_lena. To me, hey_lena and Remus Lupin share many characteristics. (Like the fact that Lupin is one of my favorite book characters, and hey_lena is one of my favorite HiH people!)

16. Colin Creevey
[livejournal.com profile] sarahdocbb -- sarahdocbb exemplifies the traits of Colin Creevy as she is an avid photographer and perhaps one could say stalker of a person whom she is inspired, fascinated and engrossed by, just as Colin was in relation to his obsession of Harry Potter. sarahdocbb exemplifies the character of Colin Creevy as she has proven she will go to any lengths to take photo’s of ‘the Sirius look-a-like’ at her college, asking him to pose for her. She takes any opportunity possible to photograph him as Colin did with Harry [and let us not forget Ron and those slugs] She is always looking out for him, and any opportunity to photograph him and learn all about him.

[livejournal.com profile] coaltrain_613 -- Colin is a very enthusiastic and energetic kid. He follows Harry around because he admires him and he wants to see what's happening, he wants to know what's going on and he wants to be a part of it.
Neeley makes me think of Creevey, and not just because of the similar names ;) He's also very enthusiastic and energetic and he's all over the place. He's a part of almost everything that's going in the community and somehow he's always optimistic. Yes, he strikes me as a Creevey.

17. Neville Longbottom
[livejournal.com profile] erinypies -- Unlike most of the other people in this community (besides a select few), I know this person really well considering she’s my sister. I think she’s most like Neville because of her forgetfulness. I swear she has to write notes for EVERYTHING! Like she can’t remember when she puts her emergency brake on. She wrote on a piece of pink paper "EMERGENCY BREAK!" (Yes, I know it’s misspelled but I’m not going to cover that one up). Now when she has the brake on, she puts that piece of paper on top of the brake. I do believe she’s driven home with it on though, despite the note. She also looses things often. I gave her the car keys one day since I didn’t have pockets. I handed them to her right when I got out and she shoved them in her purse. Later, I asked her for them back and she proceeded to argue with me that she didn’t have them. We went back and forth while she was digging in her small purse. When it was her turn to retort, she had her hand in her purse and said "You did give me the keys." But she didn’t shout it because she knew I was right. A Remembrall wouldn’t help her in the least like Neville, considering she would have forgotten what she was supposed to remember. I don’t know if Neville ever used an excuse for his forgetfulness but Erin likes to use the term "memory loss". I, at times, like to call it stupidity. Besides being heinously forgetful, she’s very loyal to her friends and will stand up to them when they’re being idiots. She doesn’t like getting into trouble, although she will shoot off if you get her mad enough. For the most part, she just wants people to like her so she doesn’t voice her opinions too much unless things are getting out of control. But if you piss her off, be prepared for a lashing because she won’t let it go unnoticed.

[livejournal.com profile] rushofsilence -- Jessie admits to having a poor memory. Automatically, when you think of memory issues, Neville comes to mind. Jessie's loyal to her housemates and is easy to like. She comes across as laid back, but she's got an uber strength of character you didn't know existed. Everyone thought one thing about Neville (he wasn't good at magic or he was stupid) but by the end of OoP he totally proved himself. Sure, no one thinks Jessie's stupid or whatnot, but she really isn't what she seems - she's much more.
And, as Neville did, Jessie really grows on you. :)

18. Lucius Malfoy
[livejournal.com profile] vulfgrl -- Lucius is a manipulative man. And his match is found in Vulfgrl. She's the girl people like, and probably you wouldn't have a clue anything 'sinister' was in the mix until it too late. Vulfgrl is the person you want on your side. Not to mention she's smooth and fun to be around. (And really, wouldn't YOU want to be around Lucius?) She's also subtle. Lucius' behaviour was calm and he kept everything on the downlow. Whatever Vulfgrl's plans - you're not going to know until she's ready to share.

[livejournal.com profile] drusilla_malfoy -- Like dear ol' Lucius, Julia resides from Slytherin. She is very intelligent and has a dislike for those who are not educated as well. Julia tries to stay out of debates/conversations on certain subjects because once she gets started, it’s hard to stop her from getting her point across. She's very determined and knows how to get what she wants. She's had some heinous problems with Germany but does she take it? NO! She knows what she has to do in order to get them off her back. She doesn't give up and has been battling Germany over things for awhile. Like members of the Malfoy family, she's not quick to show her emotions if she has doubt about your character or what you're trying to get out of her. She'll tell you how it is and isn't hung up on how your reaction to her will be. If she has a problem with you, she'll let you know it. Because of this, she's been the target of stupid lj drama. And yet, that didn't faze her. Julia is a very strong person. Although she may have her weak points, she dusts herself off and gets back to her old self. Julia has even sported the trademark white blonde hair of said Malfoy. She also likes to be dressy all the time by purchasing long skirts and blouses. Even in the snow, it doesn’t stop her from being the sophisticated person she is.

19. Ginny Weasley
[livejournal.com profile] gir_m20 -- Although the books do not speak much of Ginny in her normal state, when she is not under the influence of the diary, I believe that my friend Nona of Hufflepuff is quite like her in many ways.
Gir_m20, Nona, has the mannerisms of Ginny Weasley. She is the same cute, bubbly, little girly type that I associate fondly with Ginny.
Nona, like Ginny, has a fangirly crush on a guy, whose name I won't reveal because she'd kill me, and giggles whenever his name is mentioned.
She's also viewed as quite the innocent type, who would be likely to fall for things, such as Tom Riddle's diary. I can completely imagine Nona falling into such a trap, simply because she's so slow to believe badly of anything.
Nona also has a mischevious side, as does Ginny. While she can be rational, she enjoys a good time, and I could imagine her engaging in many fun tricks with the Weasley twins.
For these reasons, I believe Nona should be considered for the position of Ginny.

[livejournal.com profile] shakiracrazy -- Rachel is a very outgoing and social person, much like Ginny. While she's a girl, she is no means a girly-girl. She's an athlete who isn't afraid of a little competition. She's got the guts to speak her mind, but she also possesses some tact. She's not concerned with maintaining a reputation for being cool, and is more concerned with being true to herself. She's definitely the kind of person who would not be embarrassed to go to a dance with Neville, nor would she ditch him when someone most would consider "better" comes along. That's because she knows how to appreciate people for their own merits and not on what other people think. Rachel is determined, possesses a lot of inner-strength, and has integrity.
