Of Fanfics, Archives and Library Cards ...

I posted this over at Ravenclaw House a few weeks back, but never got around to doing so here.

Having knocked around HP-fandom for over three years now and dipped my toes into several archives, I'm curious to know what fanfic 'library cards' you have in your wallet. Do you favor moderated archives like Petulant Poetess or The Quidditch Pitch or non-moderated sites like FF.net? Do you forgo archives and the hassle of 'library cards' altogether to post your tales on your personal site or LJ? If so, how do you go about promoting your stories?

Or perhaps it's a mixture of all three: moderated, non-moderated archives and personal sites. Sort of a shotgun approach, if you will. But if not, then why a particular site? Is it because the ease of submission or quick turn-around? Personal stomping grounds, maybe, or related forums? Or is it because they allow certain ratings/warnings that aren't accepted elsewhere?

Oh god ff.net lol. I started out with harrypotterfanfiction.com and then progressed into ff.net, before I discovered rec lists \O/

I dont know, I think I've read fics from most of the sites out there, to be honest XD

I've been around most of the archives...I've got fic posted at The Pit, but I hate reading the @!#* that's over there now. If I'm in the mood for fic, I typically read ones I've read before so I know they're good. Most of the ones I like are over at potionandsnitches and the Fire and Ice Archive, but I do love me some Ashwinder when I'm in the mood. There are a few at the Pit that I can read over and over again, but not many. I don't really like hpff at all, and I've fallen off the FictionAlley bandwagon too.

Now I just post my fics through sorting comms and at my fic journal. Sadly, I don't have a lot of time to write or read fic anymore...

I started on ff.net and will always love it! Some gems over there that don't post on LJ. My favourite author is actually over there, she has an LJ but never uses it!
