Trying typing in some text. Sometimes I think I'm alone, type something to amuse myself, and BAM! suddenly people are there. Obviously a glitch with my connection.

Definitely try to lurk/stick around until people show, if you really are alone, too. There are so many times that I will see people pop in for a few minutes when people are afk (getting food, potty breaks, what have you), see nothing is going on, and leave again. We usually return moments after they leave, too. And when the room is empty, people will leave, and moments later someone else (who they could have talked to) will do the same thing. So it's really a good idea to lurk if you have the ability.
