HBP theater finding help

Hey you guys! So I'm on vacation in San Francisco for the next few weeks and I need some help finding a good place to see the Half Blood Prince movie. I don't know anything about movie theaters in this city, so if anyone knows a good one to go to where people would dress up, I'd really appreciate the info. I'm staying downtown, so preferably something I can take a bus to or such that a taxi wouldn't be obscenely expensive. Thanks!

THE METREON! It's downtown and has an IMAX and it's the best place to see big movies. Most of the theaters in the city are a bit more run-down. There are loads of newer theaters in Daly City and East Bay, as well. But if I were still there, I'd go to the Metreon XD

Street view tells me it says Loews Theaters on the outside? And people would dress up there? If so it looks perfect! It's not far from where I'm staying so that would be awesome.

Thanks for the movie theater recommendation! I went down there yesterday to get my tickets and it looks perfect! (Also it's good I bought them already because it looked like it was definitely going to sell out!)

I SECOND THIS. The Metreon is made of awesome. I saw the premiere of OotP there, and the line was waaaaay up on like, the fifth floor XD So get there early for the premiere!

I AM *SO* JEALOUS. I want to be in SF eating dim sum at Yank Sing and walking the Embarcadero and seeing movies in the castro and drinking beer at Zeitgeist. And buying tons of shirts I'm not likely to wear again at Steve and Barry's. And being offered free pot on the Haight for not apparent reason except that it's THE HAIGHT and if 3 sexy young ladies walk down the street on the Haight someone better offer us pot.

Did you used to live here? I'm from Georgia, but San Francisco is my favorite place on earth and it is my goal to someday move here and always be around all of the awesome things that you mentioned instead of the boring-ness that is Atlanta.

Not at all! I've been there twice, both times for less than a week, but I don't think I slept at all either time. I just soaked up as much of the city as I could in the time I had, and I walked the city practically from one end to the other about 3 times.

I grew up in DC, but I live in Minnesota now, and that's the sum total of everyplace I've lived.
