Honey, I am the spirit of Valentine's day. I never had boyfriends but it was always my favorite holiday. Chocolate, pink things, heart shaped peeps. (Hey man, I'll take peeps any way I can get 'em.) I always pretended my Valentine was Justin Timberlake or some random celeb and went out with my friends.
In fact, having a significant other seemed to hinder my Valentine experience.
So if you ever want to talk hearts day, I'm your gal.

This Valentine's commercialisation just hit Switzerland roughly 4 years back. Before that cards were in and buying stuff wasn't even mentioned. I'm not in the spirit to join something just so that I need to buy stuff or plan something romantic. TEE HEE I TOLD YOU I'M A HUMBUG.
I -did- get a pain au chocolat from my friend and MMM IT WAS GOOD, that was a very nice thought of him!
