Hey guys,

Can I please remind you all about the points systems:

1. Clubs do not give knuts
2. If you're submitting an activity that awards points for 1st, 2nd & 3rd, you need to mention what people have to do to place.
3. Watch you stay within your activities limit. Every community & club has a limit on how many points earning activities it can host a month.

And finally,

4. Recently I may have slipped and let a few activities through that gave away too many points. You guys might have noticed. Now, I understand if the activity is for participation only, but people can get the answers, or whatever, wrong then you want to award slightly more for the people who get it right. And if you have an activity that is just participation only, but you feel 10 kts isn't enough.

So, what would people like? Adding an extra 5pts for people who get answers right?
Coming up with points scales for each individual activity? To be approved by a HiH mod?
Something else?
I've not had any complaints about these activities, but I've started to try and regulate them. So, I'm asking you all for your input.

clubs stuff will be sorted in a moment, I felt this should be addressed first

I'm not sure if you're talking about club activities or not, but if I had a ten point participation on a wordsearch or whatever and someone got answers wrong, generally that person got awarded 5 points instead of the full ten. I believe I got that advice from the officials comm, but that would have been a few terms back, now.
I think that makes it easier for the club leader to deduct five points from one or two members than to add five points to 85% of people entered.

Having said all that, i dunno if I'm talking about the same sort of stuff as you are, plz ignore me if not xD

From having done trivia/scav hunts in the past, I know I got complaints as a club leader for having all-or-nothing points. People said they felt they were intimidated and would NEVER be able to get ALL, so they just didn't participate. Some members complained they put a LOT of work into trying to get their answers right, but because they got one wrong, they didn't get the all-or-nothing points.

I feel that for activities such as trivia or scavenger hunts where there are individual items, I'm not sure why points aren't handed out per item. If I ask ten questions and someone gets five of them right, they get five points. Someone who gets seven of them right gets 7 points. This is pretty standard in the real world, and avoids the worries of the all-or-nothing plan.

Also, as I've done in several clubs where I am a member, if points are per-item, I can fill out the ones I know as soon as the activity posts, and if I have time later I can do the rest that require more work. But I'll know I'll get the points for the ones I got right even if I never try the other ones.

i agree, this sounds like a good way to handle this. It will take a bit more math for the leaders but it will porbably encourage more participation if members know that even if everything isn't 100% correct they will still get some points.

That makes sense, I think Maaike did that for her recent Wizarding Wear activity.

I wholeheartedly agree. It makes sense that since the point of the activity is to guess or seek out the right answer, that one should be awarded points based on how effectively one is able to do so.
