House Unity - Holiday Activity Opinion Poll

Someone suggested to me that we should have a Secret Santa gift exchange for everyone in Hogwarts is Home. I think it would be a great thing to do. A great way for people to get to know each other. If it seems like enough people want to do it, I think I will start it up in November. There are a few things I would like to get opinions on first so on to the poll.

I am also looking for 1 or 2 reps from each house to help out with whatever activity we decide on. If you would like to be one of the reps please leave a comment to this post. If I get more then the needed amount of reps from a house, I will come up with something else for you to do, there will be room for anyone who wants to help out. :)

I just set those becuase I want to try to keep those comments together. As always whatever feedback, comments, suggestions and anything else you would like to say is always appreciated.

Depending on what the workload would be, I'd be interested in helping out. XD I'd have to see what my schedule is like, and decide based on what the proposed job is, but I want to help where I can.

I THINK THE HOLIDAY CARD IDEA IS FANTASTIC!

NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD TO SEND PRESENTS AND IT'S MUCH EASIER TO BUY STAMPS!
MORE PEOPLE WOULD PARTICIPATE AND MORE PEOPLE MIGHT RECEIVE THINGS!

I might just ask around for addresses for my holiday cards anyway!

DO CARDS! No one ever sends snail mail anymore (except bills and junk) and it's always nice to receive a letter or a card. We could also include a letter that had clues in it that let to a virtual gift like a sig tag or a batch of icons.

Perhaps if sending a card/gift is too much for someone, a holiday hp fic with pairing of the person's choice could work? I recently tried to send something to a friend in the UK from the US and the estimated price astounded me. So maybe fics could be given for those in a tight money situation?

I forgot about the whole pain in the butt mailing costs to people around the world...so I would definitely prefer to do cards or do virtual gifts (graphics or fan fics or whatever). Whomever came up with the idea of inserting a little fun treasure or scavenger hunt online for some icons or other virtual gift was freakin' brilliant...I love that idea!

I love the gift exchange idea, but I, too, immediately thought about high international shipping costs! Especially around Christmas when we're all buying gifts for friends and family anyway! Postcards share the love as well and are a lot less expensive.

Why don't we have a gift exchange in the summer, when we all don't have to spend tons of money on presents in the first place? We could make up a (magical) holiday, or just say it's a summer gift exchange. The reception might be a lot better then.

I love your ideas!
Evereyone could send a postcard (OMG I LOVE POSTCARDS) that has something from their hometown, state, or country so they could know more about where everyone lives.
I live in Illinois and there is a ton of Abraham Lincoln postcard shops! LOL

And making up our own holiday sounds really fun, too.
How very HIH of us to come up with something that's just for us!

I took "virtual gifts" to be things like fanart, graphics, and fic, rather than, like, LJ virtual gifts (which cost money and are lame XD). A holiday fic exchange would be awesome (especially if the fics were holiday-themed HEE) and I loooove the idea of sending cards. I like the idea of asking each person to send out several, though, rather than just one.. because that means we only GET one. And I would rather get several. XD (And even sending out, like, 5 would still be just like $2 in stamps.. 8D You can add them to your normal Christmas card list!)
