JKR to write 800 Harry Potter "prequel," so to speak.

Personally, I think she finished an epic and should just let it lie, but there's no way I won't buy it. XD What are your thoughts?

I think she should write 7 books on the marauders years ;) I'm really happy she's writing this little bit, then though I want more.

Part of me would LOVE to know more about the Marauders and another part of me likes the way it plays out in my mind and in fan fic. Do you know what I mean?

On the other hand, what she's doing IS for charity so it's not quite as "marketing-based" as it could be.

I'd buy it. Some of those other authors are pretty cool, too!

I'm with you, I think most R/S shippers will be. I've always wanted to see more marauders era stuff but...I don't want her killing my ship like she loves to do lately. She used to let us have our fanfiction and at that point I'd ba all for it, because she'd leave everything ambiguous but now...it seems she's sick of ships and fanfiction and likes to squash our creativity with the series.

No, she hasn't. Its the impression I get from her last two books and things she's said. She used to be really receptive to fan works and the fans. But, lately she's been putting stops to it and just...not as receptive it seems.

lol It doesn't take much to sink a ship, honestly. Though if Remus marrying Tonks couldn't do it, maybe not. I just don't like how she used to be so accepting of fan works and now she's not at all receptive about it. Oh well, such is life.

I agree with her thinking that writing a prequel will get money to the charities. I mean, her last hand written book sold for what, 1.5 million or something?

I will think about buying a copy of all the hand written cards, but it depends on how much it's going to be sold for if I will or not.

I'm definitely getting the book when it comes out. More Marauders stuff is always good, I just wish she'd write more than this...

And Neil Gaiman's gonna be in the book, too, that's good enough for me. XD

I wish she'd just realize that the fans are dying for more Marauder Era information and write the damn book already. In my opinion it doesn't really kill the R/S fan fic because the fan fic is completely seperate from her work anyway. It's not like fan fic author don't change the canon facts that they don't like anyway. It would be nice to see more information on the Marauders from the person that created them. Okay, I'm done babbling now.

You phrased my thoughts nicely there. ;D It's true, though- while I'm curious to know what JKR thinks because she created the Marauders, I'm content to keep that knowledge Over There, away from my own interpretations. I certainly hope that most of the fanfic writers feel the same way!

Then again...if JKR reveals something about the Marauders that I absolutely love, I'll incorporate it. XD; Double standards are so useful.

Agrees with msninacat 's "babblings". Fan ficcers will change whatever they don't like in canon in any fandom. The truth is, she created the Potterverse and its what she wants to be canon and that is that.

I'd love to see more stuff on the Marauders because I'm from their generation myself.

Anywho, I think that people write AU fics ALL THE TIME. J.K. writing a story and establishing cannon won't change that. People will still write what they please. The ability to change things as you see fit is probably one of the best things about fan fic.

Yea I'm pretty excited about reading this and I will definitely get it cos I'm ridiculously in love with the marauders. I guess she could easily ruin R/S but then again I don't think she will since only James and Sirius feature and I'm guessing she will be focusing on their friendship more than is Sirius getting it on with Remus or anyone else for that matter. *shrugs* I'm so excited about it but then again I don't want her to ruin the marauder era for us cos to be honest we do kind of have it down better than she does :p I dunno I'm just so in love with the fan fic world of marauder I hope she doesn't just blow it all to pieces. Although this may give us a wonderful bit of canon to work with. I dunno I'm excited all the same.
