Oh no, my Dumbledore OTP is ruined! I was kinda a fan of Dumbledore/McGonagall.
Oh wow. Man...what a waste! This interesting piece of canon could have made a lot of people really happy, but it wasn't mentioned in the books.

When I think about it...all the interesting bits that didn't make it into the books! All the stuff I have to write my pen pal! She's a fan, but not really informed. I have to keep her up to date.

This THRILLS me. I mean, I saw the whole Dumbledore/Grindelwald thing when I read, but I assumed that was just me reading with my slash goggles on. It's almost strange to have it confirmed like this.

Can I just say that Dumbledore is the man? I mean, that has nothing to do with him being gay. I just wanted to put that out there. Big fan.

Heheheh...me too. I immediately jumped on the Albus/Gellert ship the second we saw the whole Dumbles backstory. This just KILLED me, though! With shock and glee. Sooooo much shock and glee. XD

Spectacular. I love that she showed all those people who said she'd never include a gay character. And it his sexual preference didn't define his character directly in the story, although it did ultimately shape his character. And Grindelwald/Dumbledore is an interesting pairing anyway.

Although I still don't like Dumbledore all that much.

I was very sad about Neville. D: I really, really wanted him to end up with Luna, too. I'm still not sold on Hannah...hopefully the pairing will grow on me! (If not, I'll just continue to pair him with Luna or Anthony Goldstein in mah head. XP)

Finally some decent news is coming out of JKR's appearances! I'm not all that suprised to find the Dumbledore is gay, I'm more surprised that JKR actually revealed it.

I'm not buying Neville and Hannah. It just feels like a pairing JLR threw together so he was with someone. I always imagined Neville as the bachelor herbologist, so in love with his plants and work that he didn't need significant other.

I seriously cheered at this. Dumbledore has always been awesome, but this has made him so much MORE awesome. No one would believe me when I said Grindlewald/Dumbledore was totally canon *triumphs*

But that was really unexpected. I usually joked about G/D, but hoshit, it was canon? I never expected it.

Neville/Hannah, though? wtf. If it was a Hufflepuff, it could have atleast have been Susan D: Hannah's just...so random.

THAT WAS THE FIRST THING I SAW WHEN I WOKE UP THIS MORNING. I'm still in shock, I never thought she'd do that and I thought that it would just have to be in my head that Dumbledore was in love with Grindelwald.

And with the Neville and Hannah thing, I think that's really adorable (still prefer Neville/Luna though) and it made me happy because now my fic that I'm writing has a little bit more canon in it because Neville and Hannah are together <3

Anyway, my days looking good and it's only 8.20am :D

I agree with you both. Since his sexuality has nothing to do with the books, I wonder why she felt she had to say anything. It just seems a strange thing to celebrate...since I'm sure he didn't choose to be gay (JKR created him as who he is). It's like congratulating him on being a certain height or having a certain eye color. He just is who he is.

I think the whole point of why people are happy is because a) it was strange before that every single one of her characters was straight, which is not at all representative of reality, which leads into b) that JKR is very big on promoting tolerance so by stating that one of her most beloved characters is gay, she was hoping to get the message across to impressionable readers that it simply doesn't matter what someone's sexuality is.

I'm annoyed that she didn't reveal this in the actual books, though... I also really, don't like Neville/Hannah. I wanted him with either Harry or Luna, if anyone... (Okay, so he was never gonna be with Harry, but... *shrug*)

I'm a little late on the uptake actually (way too busy with uni), but I was certainly surprised when I read about this. However, I was happy. I had always thought that it was a bit two-dimensional that all the characters were straight, so I'm kind of glad that Dumbledore was gay. Still, I don't think it's too important a thing. My opinion of Dumbledore hasn't changed as all.

I loved that she made that announcement and I was not shocked by it at all.

Neville/Hannah is what shocked me and I'm just going to ignore that piece of information. I just do not see Hannah running the Leaky Cauldron at all.
