I just thought I'd let everyone know that I've been told that DH has been leaked. I don't know if what was released was true (nor do I know what it says), but my friend told me it was leaked and he read what happens. I don't know if what was leaked was real (I mean, the security surrounding that novel is immense, it could just be fanfic), but you know, just in case...keep an eye out for it!

Thanks for the heads-up. It's happened before; accidentally putting out the wrong box of books or something. I'm going to be extra-careful in avoiding things after reading this. Thanks again!

Thanks for the heads up - I had HBP spoiled by someone putting something out of a cut and I do not want DH ruined for me!

I sadly came across it, and downloaded it. But my computer doesn't open .RAR files! So it's clearly a sign that I'm not ready to read it lol.

Oh, it's real.

o_o Very, very real. And for all intents and purposes, that epilogue that was leaked is looking realer by the minute even though I've only got my hands on pages 1-495.

I've taken all the HP communities, aside from HIH of course, off my friend's page. And I'm barely scanning my friends page, cause I'm in major fear of this book being spoiled. Thank you for the heads up though.

Most HP comms have gone on moderated postings as well. Which does help things out.

I put up a post today to my f-list with anti-spoiler rules, and threat of expulsion from my list if they break these rules:

1.) NO Deathly Hallows spoilers unless they are under an LJ cut.

2.) Do not make spoilery subjects your subject line or LJ-cut text line.
ex. I don't want to see, "AAAAUUUUGH! Cedric dies!!!" Okay? Okay. (Don't try to be sneaky, either! :P)

3.) Please don't use spoilery icons.

So far, those that have replied have been super good about it. I told them I had faith in them, anyways. (;

You guys are lucky... I have to wait for my copy to arrive next week because I order mine from Canada, and I live in the States. (And I can't go on hiatus 'cause I'm a prefect! T_T)

Anywho, feel free to gank my rules for your f-list, if you like. (Or just disappear for a bit. (; )

I checked and saw nothing on Snopes.com about this being an urban legend. I also have a big doubt that this is true. The spoilers that were released for HBP were really just lucky guesses.

Anyone who has anything to do with the production and release of these books has too much to lose by leaking information. At my previous job I worked on the first 6 Harry Potter books. I had the artwork in my hands 6 months before it was released. I had access to computer files of the entire manuscript. Had I leaked any of the information that I knew it would have violated the non-disclosure agreement that everyone working on the book must sign. Simply put, I would have gotten caught, I would have been arrested, and I would have been convicted and never been able to work in my field again. Not a promising outlook for a few minutes of fame.

The knowledge I had also made the attempts really seem ridiculous. Like when a box containing the manuscript for HBP was supposedly found outside of London. We knew that the UK version was 4 weeks behind production from the US version and we had just received the files that day. So I take spoilers with a major grain of salt. Avoid them if you can, definitely ignore them, and don't let anything or anyone spoil your enjoyment of Harry Potter.

I'm so paranoid about a leak that I think I'm just going to avoid the internet for the next week until I get my book.

Someone posted it on Gaia Online, but I wasn't sure whether to believe it was the real thing or not. It did look like J.K.'s style of writing, but I'm still skeptical about whether or not it was the real thing.

that's really too bad. I'm not sure how to avoid it, but I really hope people have sense enough to keep it to themselves and those who ask for it.

Sad to say, it appears to be real. Scholastic got a subpoena to get the identity of the poster siting that the postings "contain materials that infringe copyrights owned by Scholastic and J.K. Rowling". I doubt they would go through all that trouble if what had been posted wasn't a matter of genuine copyright infringement, and therefore, a genuine spoiler.

Assholes, man.

I hope I don't come across it.
HBP was ruined for me because someone IMed me some link, I clicked it, not knowing what it was, and it was the page of HBP where Harry was telling Hagrid that Snape killed Dumbledore. When it checked my friend's book (she got hers before I did), it was completely true. I was pretty pissed.

I heard from my sister (her field hockey coach told her this) that the last chapter to DH has, apparently, been posted somewhere on the internet.

Her coach warned her not to read it. She passed that warning on to me.

I'm not sure if I can believe it or not. I'd think that Jo would have put it up on the Rumors section of her website, ne?

Either way, I'd just stay away from it. Much safer that way.

No, I have searched, and there is indeed the entirety of the novel photographed and compiled for anyone to download. Someone photographed every single spread of the pages, including the covers.

Everyone should be careful and stay away from any links.
