I have a question. What is HiH's spoiler policy? How much time needs to pass before we can openly talk about what happens in Deathly Hallows? Because I know I'll have it read by then end of its release day and I'm going to want to talk about it, but I certainly don't want to spoil anyone. Anyway - I'm just wondering.... Thanks!

This might sound silly, but maybe we can open up a Deathly Hallows club temporarily at [livejournal.com profile] hh_clubs? We could have discussions and debates for points and stuff. That way, we could talk with those who knew what happened without spoiling everyone else. I think I shall go suggest it!

I'd say allow a month at least in the main club before you start talking about it. That's give even people who are sharing the book enough time to read it.

And, I second [livejournal.com profile] queenofnarnia's idea to have a temporary club for discussions or something. Just make sure it's all behind a cut.

as long as everything is marked clearly and under a cut, it shouldn't be a problem to discuss it.

I can't speak for what HiH is going to do, but I'm pretty sure that with HBP, other places said to put spoilers below a cut for a month before being able to freely talk about it.O: So. Cuts are your friend.

I think if people are smart they would avoid place where they would know spoiler will be. I am avoiding EVERYTHING. I am turning my laptop off. My cell off and just sitting on my bed reading the book till the last page. I am not going to go online till then.

Just to be safe, there should be a separate area for discussion.

Cuts and spoiler warnings are definitely the way to go - as much as we may all want to read it on the first day, there are a number of reasons why that can't always happen, for example, I have to work all day Saturday and can't take the day off. So do my two employees who are both Potter fans as well... so we'll be taking turns in the back room reading up the Potter fun. A month is a good cushion, and it would be considerate to still warn of spoilers and use cuts for a while after that.
