Dec. 24th, 2004 02:19 pmJust incase I'm not here tomorrow, I wanted to throw out a Merry Christmas in all general directions!
And to strike up conversation:
What did you want for Christmas? Do you think that's what you're getting?
Also, what traditions do you have?
We always open presents at home on Christmas morning and then drive out to my aunt's to open presents there. That's not happening this year; we're opening presents today because my mom works tomorrow and my dad and sister are leaving for Delaware tomorrow morning. So for us, this Christmas is a little different and a little smaller than usual =]

Date: 2004-12-24 08:43 pm (UTC)My favorite tradition is my family's "crazy gifts". We always celebrate Christmas day at my Grandparents' house, and every year each person brings a "gag gift" in anonymous wrapping. We draw numbers and trade them. It's pretty fun :)
Happy Christmas!

Date: 2004-12-24 09:44 pm (UTC)You get a number, then you pick a present, and then the next person picks a present, and gets the option to swap with the other person, so if you're the last person, it's really good cos you get to choose from all the presents there! :)

Date: 2004-12-24 09:50 pm (UTC)That's one of the fun things about starting your own family (whatever form it may take, mine = me, my girlfriend and our two cats)- creating your own traditions :)

Date: 2004-12-24 08:49 pm (UTC)What I want: Well, I always feel that it's the thought that counts, and generally people manage to get me something I quite like. I just love being given stuff and knowing people put effort into choosing it for me, even if the presents themselves aren't perfect.
What I'm getting: So far, between my entire extended family, there is one present for me under the tree. And I know what it is, because I was with my mother when she was shopping one day and I said I'd like it. It's a CD.
My grandmothers have been giving me money for years. My brother's been working this year and hasn't had time to get me anything, although he did give me ROTK EE for my birthday last week. And this year, my parents have just been so swamped that they haven't had time to actually go out and BUY stuff. So they're giving me money, too.
There is something under the tree from my boyfriend, though. That should be nice.

Date: 2004-12-24 09:42 pm (UTC)I'm guessing the twine was actually cut during the night, but that never actually occured to me. It just didn't seem necessary.

Date: 2004-12-24 08:59 pm (UTC)As for traditions, we wake up early, open our stockings, then the parents come downstairs, we open all the gifts, head out to church, then to my Granny's for Christmas dinner. It's getting a little complicated this year because my Papa passed away around Christmas last year, so Christmas dinner almost didn't happen at my Granny's this year! But I'm glad it did -- plus, her apartment has the most beautiful view of the Toronto skyline :)
haha I think I've rambled enough. Merry Christmas!!

Date: 2004-12-24 09:12 pm (UTC)I've never seen Love Actually... I wanted to though.
Merry Christmas to you too! ♥

Date: 2004-12-25 04:15 am (UTC)you HAVE to see Love Actually. I adore the movie -- in part because not ALL of the endings are happy endings, and some of them ARE happy endings that began with bad endings. It's very uplifting, PLUS, it has Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

Date: 2004-12-24 09:14 pm (UTC)As for gifts, I got myself the gift I wanted, which was only a CD. But now, I want ANOTHER CD, so I'm convicing my brother to buy it for me...I think of it as...he might as well get me something I really would like, instead of some junk that'll stay in my closet like every other year. o_0 he hasn't agreed yet, though.
Traditions? Party. And...parties. And that's about it. XD

Date: 2004-12-24 09:34 pm (UTC)I'm not getting any of it. I already know what I've got.
Enternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Fahrenheit 9/11
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (PS2 game).
That's all I'm getting this Christmas, but, eh, I don't care all that much.

Date: 2004-12-24 09:43 pm (UTC)But there is the possibility of getting an Aragorn standee... XD
Traditions... well, we always go to my aunt's and uncle's house at Christmas and have this *huge* get-together. Since there are so many of us in the family, only the little kids get presents from each family. The older cousins (15-25) do a secret santa gift exchange, arranged by my grandma. This shall be my first year in the older group, so I am much excited ^^

Date: 2004-12-24 09:48 pm (UTC)This year we are doing that, but afterwards my girlfriend and I are flying to the other side of the country (and gaining 3 hours, thus making christmas longer!! we are clever!!) and seeing her family too.
We have already opened our stockings (at 6am - I let the kitten in to wake her up *hee*). I think that will become our christmas tradition. Christmas sacks at the end of the bed in the morning :)

Date: 2004-12-24 10:00 pm (UTC)But my brother is getting exactly what he wants, because I bought him an xBox. ^_^ I can't wait to see his face tomorrow when he opens it!
We open presents with my grandfather on Christmas Eve, after we get back from Mass. Then, Christmas Day, we open presents at home and then my mom and I cook dinner and we watch Christmas movies and play with presents and stuff. Occasionally we get visits from my grandmother's siblings or my mom's cousins, but we're not really too close to them.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND/OR HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

Date: 2004-12-25 12:08 am (UTC)I hate Christmas for various reasons, and tomorrow i get to enjoy a two hour road trip with my family to go to some people house who I cant stand, so that I can spend my most hated holiday with people I dislike.
We USED to have traditions....open presents and then all the extended family would congregate at one of the family homes and have a big ass barbeque and shit. But now I live in England so I have no extended family so it's going to suck, just like it has the last five years.
Oh, the festive joy.
