To protect the eyes of those who do not wish to see spoilers, plus avoid the plague of posts we all know will hit once people start removing from the theaters, we are asking that all posts, questions, and comments in regard to the new movie be consolidated to one nice, pretty, put-together post.

This would be that post. :D

With that said, comment away!

I'm seeing it tomorrow night!! I thought I might be able to see it when I went home for Thanksgiving, but one of my band friends is going with a bunch of people, and she invited me for tomorrow night!! Maybe if I don't tell my parents, I might be able to see it twice...

I'm going to a midnight showing, despite the fact I have both AP Calculus and Ap Computer Science tests tomorrow. Three hours of sleep is enough right? ^^;

Just got back from the midnight showing maybe 20 minutes ago, and, well, I'm just glad I don't have Friday classes! I was WAY happier with the storylines this time than I was with PoA. But good grief, if I thought the book was a roller coaster ride...this was just as intense, even though I knew what was going to happen! I need sleep, but I'll be back when I can comment coherently.

Best movie so far.

*sigh* But I fear the whole new shipper fandom that will develop thanks to Cedric's 'Put your egg under water and think on it in the bath' line.

Just got home from seeing the movie! As a movie on its own, I think it was pretty great (very well shot, entertaining and plenty of Fred+George screenlove!), but some of the rewrites really ticked me off. To get the most petty one off my chest, I was very nearly writing Sirius out of the movie. :( But really, how they rewrote the end of the movie was what pissed me off. I know there's only so much they can do with the time they've got, but I hated the scene with Voldemort (it didn't lay out half as well as it did in the books), I hated that they totally rewrote the character of Barty Crouch (his whole character was cheap compared to Rowling's), and I really hated that they cut out the scene at the end between Dumbledore and Fudge and the introduction of the Order of the Phoenix (sort of).... though given the way Barty "exited" in the film, I'm not sure how the rift between the ministry and Dumbledore is even going to play in the movieverse. The ending scenes of GoF in the book set the stage for the rest of the series.... I felt the screenwriters kind of dropped the ball with them, like they missed the point of where Rowling started taking the story in Goblet of Fire. Which is kind of sad, and really underscored why I've never been able to get as excited for the movies as I get for the books. The movies are flashy and entertaining, but the plot is made much more shallow and far less clever. If I only had the movies to go on, I certainly wouldn't be a devoted fan.

That all said, I know what I said above sounds pretty negative about the movie, but I do think I liked this movie better than the first three. As unhappy as I was with some of the scene cuts and plot changes, everything was shot beautifully, paced well (even if it was a bit fast), and pretty well acted. They made it funnier than the last three as well, and I think I like this director's style better than I liked that of the last two. It's artistic enough without getting as surreal and jumpy as Cuaron, and more nuanced than Columbus.

Anyway, off to bed with me! Hope I don't turn out to be the only critical viewer to post!

Ok, I have a 5 and 7 year old... do you think anything in the movie will be a little too much?

I'm concerned. They haven't read the books... I have... duh... but yeah, I'm a little worried.

Oh please wise mod who has seen HP:GoF, tell me... (LOL)

OMG!
I loved it! Some people didn't like.. but I guess that's since they didn't read the books. I thought they cut the rights things and whatnot.. :D
When I went to sleep (at like 3:00), I had this weird like dream about it, and it was sort of scary and it didn't make any sense, but Krum was in it.. Yah, weird.

I. Love. This. Movie.

GoF isn't my favorite of the books, but holy hell is it now my favorite of the movies!

I have nit-picky things about it, of course, and the movies will never, ever be able to take on the enormous love I have for the books... but overall I felt that this movie was well done, and I'm not disappointed. :)

I thought it was BLOODY BRILLIANT! When I got home at like 3 AM I made all sorts of *squeeee* phonecalls.

I was pretty much not bothered by the cuts and changes. Well I mean maybe one or 2 things, but I completely understand why they did all of them. And the ones that did bug me got cancleded out by MAD WEASLEY LOVE. Haha. No but the weasleys were bloody brilliant in this movie, all of them, love love love, I just died the whole time.

Um, yes. It was brilliant, and beautiful, and funny, and scary.

oh, and I was friggin BAWLING! Yes. Sad. Oh man. I mean you know what's coming but cedric just, man. When his dad was kneeling over him "my son, my son!" I just lost it.

I second the Weasley love!! I was never a HUGE twins fan...until last night. Now they have my complete and utter adoration. :) Rupert was even more brilliant as Ron, if that's possible, and I really dug Bonnie's portrayal of Ginny too. And I really wasn't heartbroken at all that by Percy's absence...heh.

RALPH FIENNES = my hero. He played Voldemort perfectly. He is love.

I very much enjoyed the H/Hr bits. Yes. That's me. An H/Hr shipper.

And Neville is my woobie, so I was thoroughly satisfied with his amount of screentime.

They crowdsurfed Professor Flitwick. I literally went: WHAT THE FUCK?!

I do have my grievances with the movie...but it was pretty hilarious. All the implied sexual stuff was great. We decided that we would like to add call lines to this movie, a la Rocky Horror Picture Show. Everytime Snape came on screen, we said "Asshole!" and when Malfoy came, we said "Slut!". Mwaha.

I'm so glad they left in the part where Moody turned Malfoy into a bouncing ferret. The entire theatre was roaring with laughter.

Saw it at midnight last night, got home at 4 (yes, my friend doesn't know her way back home, apparently). And here's what I think.

Hardcore Harry Potter fans are most likely the best people in the world (<333) because they're not ashamed of SHOWING IT. They didn't go all out in costume, but most had the scarves and faces. They all KNEW what the heck was going on and flaunted, proudly, their knowledge and excitement. All the sexual inuendo was taken so wonderfully, with the clapping and the laughter and the crying and the cat calls when Potter was in the bath. An audience with emotion is the best audience. They were like ME, something which I cannot find anywhere because everyone in my town sucks and doesn't know a good book when they see one. (In my Advanced Placement Literature class a few days ago, no one knew what an actual sphinx was. "It's just that statue in Egypt, right? I don't get it!" Yeah. READ GOF AND BE ENLIGHTENED. It makes me almost feel bad for them. Except I don't.)

The kids aged like three years between POA and GOF. It's so weird to see Dan and Rupert so OLD. Remember when they were wee little ones in SS? It's crazy.

Also, Fred&George are. Amazing. Every single scene of them.

A lot of people in school had issues with Robert Pattinson and how ugly he was to be playing Cedric. Excuse me for being in the minority, but hello, that boy was good looking. Definite heartthrob material.

And yeah, I agree about the WTF with the nonexistence of the World Cup. I wouldn't have minded the movie being a half hour longer if they included that. And the scene at the end with Harry in the infirmary. That scene with Fudge and Mrs. Weasley was NEEDED omg. I really need closure, and I thought the end of the film went too quickly.

Yeah. Best movie of the series. But hopefully it doesn't stop there.

I guess I'm in the minority with you about Robert. I thought he was just okay when I saw promo pics and stuff from the premieres, but when I finally saw that killer smile on the big screen for myself...oh lord, it was all over then. Too bad Cedric had to die...

I just saw the movie, and I don't really think it did the book justice.

I really hate how the screenwriters complain about the content of the book and about how it's too much, yet they put in scenes that didn't happen in the book at all to begin with. I don't understand it.

Aside from that, though, I actually think the movie was really good. Everyone who has posted in front of me has pretty much covered my complaints, so I'll keep quiet for now. :)

I just got back. I must say its the best in the series, but I was disappointed at how much was left out. Maybe its just because its my favorite book in the series, so I remember every little detail.

I hated how the people who hadn't read the book (who wouldn't though? really..) wouldn't have understood the part in the beginning with the old gardener in the house. AND also, why the heck was Barty Crouch JR there? He wasn't in the book as far as I remember..

Then, the world cup went very fast and they didn't involve the house elves at all. And if I hadn't read the book, I would be totally confused about Barty Crouch. I thought the tent part was pretty cool though: "I LOVE magic!"

Hmm... Moody was not how I pictured him at all. But whatever. I actually thought that the Voldemort scene was done pretty well, though I would've liked the names of the Death Eaters to be more clear.. I don't think anyone realized that he said "Crabbe, Avery, Goyle..." only Malfoy because he took his mask off. And maybe it was unclear to some that HARRY'S PARENTS came out of the wand. Yeah, I think it was.

But whatever. I'm too critical because I absolutely loved it and I want to see it again and see Cedric again and yes.

Question: Why did Cho have an Irish accent or was I hearing incorrectly?
AND: Barty Crouch JR + Tongue Lick thing (?) = WHAT?!
Why are the Weasley Twins + Ron SO UNBELIEVEBLY CUTE? Aw.. I felt so bad for him and those dressrobes, lol.

ANDANDAND. I cried when Harry brought Cedric's body back and A.Dig said "Noo! That's my sonnnn... THATS MY SON!!" And Harry wouldn't let go. :(

Someone that good looking doesn't die, I've decided.

I would make a regular comment, but I must say that YOUR ICON IS FABULOUS!!!

I agree that there some big gaping holes in the plot, and that parts felt rushed, but for what it was (and IMO to the non reader), it was coherent enough to follow. Then again, DVD = deleted scenes.

Yeah, Moody, not what I expected, but his teaching class scene, very good. Luved the bit with Seamus.

HEY Wait a minute!!! Wasn't Harry and the Weasleys supposed to be sitting in the Officials Box at the QWC? Why in the bloody hell were they sitting nosebleed?

The DE roll call: I heard Crabbe and Goyle, but I think that was due that I was anticipating it. I didn't hear Avery. Anyone else think that the DE's looked like a reverse KKK? That kinda freaked me out...
