1) If you could have any superpower - but only ONE - what would it be?

4) What HP character do you identify with most and why? (someone else suggested this, I think?)
Reasons:
1) I imagine that if someone chose 'invisibility,' they might not be a fit for Hufflepuff. Hufflepuffs are close-knit and might not be real obvious to other houses, but they DON'T disappear. However, a Slytherin might choose invisibility in order to spy on people. Likewise, I can't imagine a Ravenclaw choosing the ability of flight, because it's such a frivolous thing, whereas they might want timetravel. Then again, the reasons for choosing the ability would be telling.
I think this is a lot like 'what would you change about the wrold?' but we'd not get as many of the same answers. I'm really tired of seeing "no more hunger!" and "world peace!" every app.
2) I think the 'why' of this question is MUCH more important than the color itself.
3) Diaries are very personal things and you can often tell a lot about someone by the journal he has. A Gryffindor may have a fuzzy-covered notebook with a lock, while a Ravenclaw may use an agenda book as a diary. Or vice versa.

I think the and why, although redundant, should be added to the end of every question just to reemphasize that that question is important and needs to be answered as well. I think these questions, along with the others in my previous post, would definitely give insight into the person, both of their knowledge of themselves and Harry Potter so we are sure they are taking the app seriously and we get a lot of insight as to who these people are so that we place them in the right houses. I think some of the questions like the role model question or the one thing you'd change about the world end up getting pretty uniform responses and don't really give us a lot of insight into the person because these questions are kinda generic.
I also think we should include something somewhere on the site that has an in depth description of each of the houses, kind of like the sorting guides that are there to help people sort, since there have been many cases where applicants do not seem to understand the houses. For example, the countless applications that say that Slytherins are evil, and similar stereotypes that have been placed on all of our houses. I just think it would be good to clarify what it is that we see in and expect from each house, so that these assumptions may not happen as much and can clarify to the applicants what each house means/represents in our community.
Okay, I am done rambling now.

The slogans were great, it was hard to pick just three.
I like questions # 1 and 2 from siriusmatters list. I really like snuggled's questions about your favorite and least favorite HP book and why.
I would really like to keep the 5 best and worse traits and abilities question. When I am having trouble deciding which house to sort people into, this one question really helps me to make a decision.
I don't really care for the which house don't you think you belong and why" for a couple of reasons. First, being that is just to easy to think someone is bashing a house because of their response and it is very difficult on the applicants part to write a reponse that doesn't sound like they a bashing a specific house. Second thing I have noticed is that the applicants are trying so hard not to bash a house that the why isn't really explaining why, just too vague and sometimes in contradiction with the other answers above. Which brings me to the third point, if someone obviously doesn't want to be sorted into a certain house, how does the sorter then handle it when they want to sort them into that house? Is the way this question is answered one that will push a sorter in one direction that without it, they might have sorted different?
Questions I would like to see...
1. You are at the end of your life and someone asks you what is the one thing you are most proud of, of all your accomplishments (it can be something you have already done or something you think you will do in the future)? Note: This could replace the "accomplishment question". I realize it is the same question but I found it gets people to think of it differently when it is asked as a deathbed question.
2. If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it? Note: I like this one because of the creativity it requires on the part of the answerer.
