The HiH Officials will be announced shortly after I've heard back from one of our applicants; there were few applications so they were chosen at discretion. These applications, however, were plenty and fantastic! It'll be a hard time deciding, that's for sure.

Good luck to you all! Please choose your favorite TWO (though more than two will be chosen) Applications in the poll below. Thank you!!

APPLICANT #1

Roleplaying Experience:
+ Okay, I haven't been RPing for very long, or across the board or anything. But I do have a character at NP that is heavily invested there. I've developed backstory and relationships with not only the other characters, but the other players.

I suppose some will look for a wide range of experience in different RPGs, but I think it stands for something that I am thrilled to be a part of NP, and that I remain dedicated to my character and set an example of an ACTIVE player who is involved with all different characters and subsets of the community. And I really think that a community with active characters and dedicated players is much better than one that may have players who aren't are dedicated or involved, no matter how much experience those players may have had.

Things you would change within NP:
+ I would love for the modship to be controlled by 3 people. Then, tasks could be properly divided. They'd be divided not only in terms of duties, but divided into threads that they could regularly skim over for rule-breaking, and have those threads assigned to them in terms of tallying points. Just as an example (within NP)
- Mod One would be in charge of the Daily Prophet, Library and Hallways.
- Mod Two would be in charge of Character Submissions, the Great Hall and Classrooms.
- Mod Three would be in charge of community membership approvals, the Grounds, Dorms & Hogsmeade.
+ An "NP Officials" community would be created. This community would serve several purposes.
- A Post for Approval of Plot/Action. This would allow all mods to be aware of and approve future plots or major backstory plots. It also means that your request for a Plot or Action will be viewed by ALL mods, meaning no conflicting responses AND your Plot/Action will be approved faster.
- A Leaving/Hiatus Post. This would provide a place to work out an appropriate plot to exit your character from the game. Those types of comments would be screened. As well, it would provide current players with a list of inactive characters are awareness when certain characters go on Hiatus, that way, their gameplay is less interrupted.
- A Place to Rearrange Duties. That way, if one of the mods is going through some rough stuff in their RL, duties are properly redistributed, with everyone aware of who should be doing what.
- A Place to Discuss Disciplinary Action. In case of drama, any warnings given out, etc. would be documented and discusses by all mods.
+ I would increase the ratings to coincide with more Movie-standard PG-13. I've worked far too long with kids and teenagers to think that these Hogwarts students would act below Movie PG-13, or that the members of the community would not be able to handled exposure to Movie PG-13 material.

Things you would keep the same:
+ I love the idea of the Daily Prophet, and I would want to ensure that it keeps a position within the new Now Playing, and continue to be updated as an IC "Daily" Prophet. It helps to move plot along, and introduce new plots and backstories for characters. It's an extremely useful tool when used regularly and consistently.
+ The basic format of NP is working, and there isn't much I would change. I love that they have Classroom threads and I'd encourage more people to apply for Professor positions. I love that there's Hogsmeade, and Halloween Balls, and a certain degree of plot put out their by the mods.

Why do you feel you are a good choice for this position?:
+ I really do love NP. I love the House Unity it creates, and I love that the people are so willing to put in time to making it fantastic. But I'm also extremely flexible. If people are unhappy with the way something is working, I'm up for discussion and having ideas back and forth (another reason why I think 3 mods would be nice).
+ I'm extremely dedicated to HiH and everything the community stands for.
+ I'm a pretty easy-going and approachable person. I'm very open to suggestions, comments, criticisms and I really think that's necessary in a community with so many people.

Anything you'd like to add:
+ I just want to say that NP is a wonderful experience to be a part of. Everyone is fabulous and I want to continue that love for as long as I can :)

APPLICANT #2

Roleplaying Experience: Two years moderating a Sailor Moon RP on Yahoo!Groups, some tabletop, avid reader of bad_rpers_suck and good_rpers_rock, three years in Kadanzer Weyr, a Pern RP.

Things you would change within NP: I'd like to put in some whose role is to just watch for fires starting. They wouldn't have any power to do anything, but would report on things. That way you don't get the feeling of 'informing' on others. Also, when people plot out things that are against the rules, they don't exactly tell the mods. I also think there ought to be at least three full mods, so that there can be a majority vote on issues.
Basically, while I think the original rules and setup were fine, NP's outgrown them.

Things you would keep the same: I like the new schedule where daychange happens on specific days.

Why do you feel you are a good choice for this position?: I've got experience with RP, I've got a character who isn't part of anything that really could be termed a clique, and I'm generally available online (at least once a day).

Anything you'd like to add: World Peace!

APPLICANT #3

Roleplaying Experience: 10 years experience with roleplay, have moderated, hosted and site administrated roleplay sites as well currently own a roleplay chat site.

Things you would change within NP: Plot. We need plot, lots of plot. There should be theme's (such as in school/IC themes), perhaps even more organization of characters, caps on characters for certain years, more presense by mods/professors (Students need to go to class). Have school wide events etc. As this is a time when Voldermort is in power and there is the war going on, have more storylines that are affected by this. Instead of getting caught up in soap opera drama get caught up in the war.

More enforcement of the rules. Hogwarts is a boarding school, the characters and situations should fit into that type of setting.

Character Creation would mean that before one could begin playing they gain a backstory unless the student is a first year. 5th years should know other 5th years, especially in their house, there should be a history. if this means that after (or better yet before) a character concept(application) is approved that they then soliciate for backstory and get a set backstory with other characters so be it.

Players must know their own characters history, name, and age, strengths and weaknesses AS IT WAS WRITTEN in the application, changing information, or ignoring their application would make a character null and void unless they reapplied the character with altered personality, strengths, name, or history.

Things you would keep the same: The setting. I'd leave the timeline and that it's Hogwarts the same.

Why do you feel you are a good choice for this position?: I have experience with running roleplays, keeping settings and I like enforcing rules. I'm also not a push-over and will let anything go. I'm fair, I don't play favourites, and I want to make NP succeed.

Anything you'd like to add: Not really. Although I might upset some people because I would stick to the rules and setting and not make concessions.

APPLICANT #4

Roleplaying Experience: Now Playing is my first RP but I've quickly fallen in love with this place and picked up on all the dos and donts

Things you would change within NP: I think that things were going pretty well there are just some kinks that could be worked out to make things run more smoothly. I think the rules need to be updated, I know it was hard for me to plainly find some of the rules in writing. I also have some ideas about moderator responsibilities that could make things run more smoothly. I think as long as there are a few mods to keep things in balance everything can run well. I think different mods should have different responsibilites (depending on number of mods.) One could work on character approval, one could monitor threads (or several mods takes a few threads each, depending how many mods) to make sure everyone is following rules. Mods could switch off these jobs every few weeks so that everything would be covered but no one would always be stuck doing one thing. And I think communication is key in keeping this place running smoothly and avoiding... incidents.

Things you would keep the same: I like how this place I'd run. I like the different posts set up for the locations. I think the day changed still need a bit of getting used to but having set day changes on certain days is a very good idea. I want players to still feel like they have a lot of freedom but have the security of rules.

Why do you feel you are a good choice for this position?: I'm not sure that I can say I'd be the best choice but I really want to be able to help out becaase I love this place. I have been moderating another community for quite a wile now (8 months maybe) so I can stay on top of things even when there is a big influx of activity. I know I can work well with other people so I think that wold be good, and I feel like I could pick up the slack if other people needed me to.

Anything you'd like to add: Whoever ends up being the mod(s), I just hope I can help out in some way :)

APPLICANT #5

Role-playing Experience: I have been role-playing since 1999-2000, and since then, have always been involved with a role-play of some sort. I have been involved in everything from HP to anime to various celebrities, so I have covered a broad field. I am experienced in both script and narrative. I have also modded many groups, and have been involved in many situations, so I know how to react to many scenarios.

Things you would change within NP: I would like to make the Prophet and Quibbler go out on a weekly basis (OOCly), perhaps every Saturday. Throughout the week, members would submit their stories and ideas, and all would be considered. Day changes would be voted upon by members to see what is best for them. I would also like to have more of a set plot, as opposed to a free-for-all, that people would be able to follow. I’d also tweak things a bit so, if someone were offline and they were in a thread with more than one other person, the thread wouldn’t have to halt until they returned. People could continue posting until said missing person came back online, and the thread could go on as normal. I would also let the content be upped just slightly, as long as proper warning is given.

Things you would keep the same: Posting order, for one. While I would change it so people could continue threads, basic order would still be needed to keep things from erupting into chaos. I would also keep a journal such as np_officially to allow players in on some plots so they are not completely in the dark about upcoming events. Of course, certain posts would be aimed at specific people/houses, but over all it would be used for informational purposes for students.

Why do you feel you are a good choice for this position?: I’m an extremely active member of NP, being online on a daily basis for hours at a time, so I’d be able to take care of things should any situations rise. NP is, by far, the best RP I have ever been involved with, and I love it to bits, and therefore I dedicate as much time as I can to it (which happens to be quite a bit). Being an experienced role-player, I feel that I can handle many things should conflict arise. As I’ve said, I have been through quite a bit of RP drama through the years, and can safely say I’ve seen and done it all. I am also close to many of the members, talking to most of them on a daily basis over instant messenger, so I have a good idea of what people like, or what they do not. Speaking to them so often allows me to not only become good friends with them, and hear their genuine honest opinions, but trust is gained on both sides. Trust is one of the most important things about being a moderator, and without that, nothing good will come of any group.

Anything you'd like to add: Just to repeat what I have said a million times, I love NP. I really do. I will admit, I have slacked off my updating the user info duties, and that has not been very fair of me. However, NP is just something that I feel I can throw myself into, and would be more than willing to spend extra time taking care of it, and doing the things I need to do to keep it running smoothly. I have become greatly attached to the people involved, and would do many things to make this group work the way it should. Role-playing has always been a big part of my life, and I feel that I have the skills to run such a group.

APPLICANT #6

Roleplaying Experience: 4 months online LJ RP, years in person AD&D as well as other online formats.

Things you would change within NP: I would add some more all encompassing stories/events to the Prophet and keep it up to date. Also, I would think of adding a school paper type of document to the list, so we could isntall Hogwarts specific events and notifications, a gossip column etc. That way things occurring such as a swamp on the third floor east wing corridor, athletics, little mini bios of students and staff and the like. As if it were written by students, but also is informative when needed. Also, some additional out of regular thread events, such as Yule Balls, Feasts, maybe a Great Hall sleepover (as was seen in PoA) should something of that import happen etc. would also be fun to run.

Things you would keep the same: How the community is run in general, with how the posting and threads are set up, as well as the day changes and such. Also, how the community is moderated; I have the utmost respect for the mods and the professionalism and objective way in which they deal with matters brought to their attention.

Why do you feel you are a good choice for this position?: I feel I am a good choice because I have a very creative and agile mind, and am also a professional, both in my work and in other aspects of my life. I am very adept at mediating issues that may arise, as well as having the ability to remain objective regardless of personal feelings, and do my best to ensure feelings are not hurt all around. In terms of the community, I would be good at coming up with creative ideas for a variety of events to occur. Also, I have been an active member since joining, with both a student (Jack) and teacher (Simon) character, and often peruse threads to see what other characters are up to, so I keep up to speed on the goings on in the community.

Anything you'd like to add: I have loved this community through thick and thin since I joined and I would love the opportunity to have a more active role within it. I love coming up with creative ideas and working out problems to soothe everybody involved. I am both a writer and a scientist, and blend both aspects of my life. I also enjoy having a diverse character population and would encourage more characters of differing personality types to be applied for, and those that clash as well as those that blend.

APPLICANT #7

Roleplaying Experience: I'm pretty into RPG-ing. I participated before, but now I have an RPG community besides hihnow_playing and I have been RP-ing a lot. :D

Things you would change within NP: I wouldn't really change anything. I think the structure of NP is pretty good, and I like the way it is run. However, I think that we should post whenever there is going to be a day change, so everyone knows and doesn't get left behind.

Things you would keep the same: The application and the way the community is run. I like the way it is already, so I would basically keep the same things.

Why do you feel you are a good choice for this position?: As I mentioned earlier, I already own another RPG, so I know how to run a community like this. I would know what to do when someone is breaking a rule and so forth. I also like RPGs, so I would remain interested.

Anything you'd like to add: I love to help! :D
