![]() Apply to be a: Registered Animagus HP Character Writing Communities: Icon Making Communities: Sponsored Shops ![]() ![]() Attention Shop Owners! Would you like to see your banner here? Then come over to this post to find out how! By "Dear Dumbledore, What subject did you find difficult during your school years? Sincerely, Bad At Math" Dear Bad at Math, You might be surprised to know this, but I could never quite get the hang of Potions. Yours, Albus "Dear Dumbledore, I'm smarter than all the other students at Hogwarts. Can I just take a test so I can skip the next few years and graduate early? - Educated preteen" Dear Educated Preteen, You can, but you'll miss out on everything else that students at Hogwarts would enjoy, including being around other students. Would you really want to? Yours, Albus "Dear Dumbledore, I'm set to graduate from Hogwarts soon. It's an exciting time for sure, but also a daunting one for a Muggle-born such as myself. Soon I'll have to make a decision — do I want to live where my family is in the Muggle world, or do I want to be open and frolicking free in the Wizarding world? How do you make the difficult decisions when you know it will affect your entire life? Thank you for your advice, Going Home?" Dear Going Home?, That's indeed a heavy decision to make, and one that many before you have had to make as well. I can't speak to the decision you need to make yourself, as everyone's situation is different, but if it helps, you will never fully leave either world behind. You are always going to be part of both, whichever path you choose to take. Yours, Albus "Dear Dumbles, I'm dreaming of the summer holidays already! My dad insists that we go camping again, but if I can give him a better alternative, he might change his mind. Any good holiday ideas? I don't want to be ankle-deep in wet grasslands again. Yours, Camping-Phobic" Dear Camping-Phobic, That's a shame; I heard there was a lot of fun had camping at Hogsmeade this weekend — though, and I will give the Hogsmeade mayors credit here, I don't believe they'd camped in wet grasslands. You could always tell your father that you've had your fill of camping, and perhaps he might like looking into more coastal options? There are plenty of beaches with areas great for hiking. Good luck! Yours, Albus Write to Dumbles You can write to your headmaster here; Dumbledore will try to respond to all letters, but there may be some delay before he gets to yours. All letters dealt with in strictest confidence. |

![]() By ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() By Hello lovers of art and graphics, Welcome to a new column of Fanart Spotlight. I bring you the latest art and graphics shared by our fellow HiH-ers. The former mods of ![]() Second place was taken home by Steph/ ![]() I have some lovely icons to share coming straight from Check out the rest of the variations over here. Coming from Ravenclaw, Susan/ Enjoy the rest of the icons at Susan's post. From Hufflepuff, Nic/ Check out the rest of the icons over here. And from Gryffindor, Jess/ Check out the rest of the icons over here. I've got some beautiful art pieces to share with everyone. Please leave some comments and love for all our artists who are sharing their work over at ![]() Stop by to leave some comments over here. Lovers of James Potter should enjoy Gryffindor's Heather/ ![]() Stop by to leave some comments over here. To wrap up this column, I have one final piece to share. Jessie/ ![]() Leave Jessie some comments over here. This is it for this edition. I'm excited to see what other beautiful works get produced. Keep on posting and you might find yourself in the spotlight next time! ![]() By While you unwind from the craziness that was Hogsmeade, let's take a look at what's been going at The middle of the month means a healthy dose of activities and results alike, so let's get right into it! So far this month, we've had two placement activities have results go up. The first was Dueling Club's The Dueling Awards: The Trophy, with first place going to Ellie | ![]() Second place went to Adrienne | Shutterbug Society's photo scavenger hunt, So You Want to Be a Photographer? Part 2, gave placement to the first three to take 15 pictures (5 of which were as a Harry Potter character). Michi | To check out all of the (many!) results posted so far this month, be sure to head to the results tag! There have also been a couple of important announcements you may have missed! First, the mods announced April's Club Member of the Month: Tiffany | May's Club Leader of the Month was also announced, this time going to Steph | Finally, let's take a look at some of the activities still going on (since I'm sure you're not at all burnt out from Hogsmeade... nope). If you're quick, there's still time to participate in Divination Club's Dream Interpretation, which ends June 17 at 11:59pm UTC, and Slug Club's What a Zoo!, which ends June 18 at 2am UTC. If you're not tired of stamping yet, check out Potions Club's Potions Ingredient Stamping before it ends on June 29. If puzzles are more your style, be sure to head over to Shutterbug Society's So You Want to Be a Photographer? Part 3 before June 22 to complete a logic puzzle about photography mishaps! If you're looking for a game of some kind, there are a few options for you: History of Magic's Spot the Muggle, Healers Association's St. Mungo's Residency, and Ministry of Magic's Save the Worker are all waiting for you to play them! Finally, if you're looking to learn a thing or two about plants and their killing abilities, check out Herbology Club's How Does It Kill You? before June 23! That's all for this edition of the Prophet! Keep up the great work at ![]() Too Close to Dragons? Rumours abound about a certain Weasley in a certain country and just how close he might be getting to the majestic creatures he's been equipped to train. Though there hasn't been proof, some speculate that his interest in these creatures is as romantic as the language base of the country he currently resides in. Quit Bugging Me! Seems a certain unregistered Animagus is back on Hogwarts grounds, seeking revenge on some trouble-finding lions. Keep your bus spray close, fellas! Canoodling In Care Rumors have spread that two 6th year students were spotted holding hands and whispering closely during a Care of Magical Creatures lesson while Hagrid's back was turned. Could a new love be blossoming on the Hogwarts ground? Only one hiccup - one student is a Hufflepuff, while the other is a Slytherin. Perhaps their young love can promote some lovely house unity. Got gossip? Tell us here! |
![]() Source loleia @ deviantart ![]() ![]() By Hello Flourish visitors, Welcome to a fresh new Flourish column. I bring some fresh interviews for you, the new theme and the usual lot of helpful links you might need. + Themes are still favorite character and provided fonts^^So if you're a shopkeeper, make sure to have a look at those new fonts here; maybe you like one or two or all of them and can get some extra points. Since pretty much everybody has signed up for favorite characters at this point, it's mostly interesting for members to check here and see if there is a chance one of their favorites has been picked and then they can order all the tags. + We have at least 2 spots at every house but Gryffindor (which has no open spots right now), so in case you had a stall at Hogsmeade and would like a shop, now you can apply. And even if you didn't, if you want a shop, apply here + Hogsmeade just ended, but make sure to keep an eye out for the Hogsmeade tag deliveries. Maybe somebody ordered a tag for you as a surprise ;) And now the shopkeepers: ![]() Flower Children by I think Nikki's shop is one of the most organized shops I have seen in Flourish so far (and well, no shop is a mess, so it's really, really organized^^). There is a sub catalog for everything you might want (art, stock, quotes, Disney and more). My tips: The Catching Fire tags, because they look really great, and the food tags. Because they include a Pikachu — I think it's some sort of ice cream but I could be wrong. Anyway, it looks cute and delicious, and you should check it out. 1. Which are your three favorite tags in your shop right now? My favorite tags are these: ![]() ![]() ![]() 2. How do you get inspiration and ideas to make new tags? I get my inspiration from the things I love, you know? I'm not really into many fandoms, so I don't have a lot of current pop culture or whatever, but I make tags out of things that interest me. I'm a hippie at heart: hippie tags; I'm getting dreadlocks: dreadlock tags; Alexz Johnson is my queen: Alexz tags, etc. 3. What are your plans for additions to your shop in detail and/or general? I don't know what's coming next. You never can tell what's going to come out next week! ![]() Sunshine Daisies Butter Mellow by Amber's shop is only a month old but already full of tags. You can find great House Pride and Harry Potter tags, really awesome LGBTQ Pride tags and, well you know me, I love all the food tags ever. Another great thing, you can navigate the shop super easy, because thanks to the magic of coding, when you click on the links for the different tags, it doesn't lead you to a new page, you stay at the main catalog. And you can also order tags from her old shop Ribbons&Bows, so make sure to look there, too. 1. Which are your three favorite tags in your shop right now? My three favorite tags (today anyway. Tomorrow I might say different) are probably: ![]() ![]() ![]() 2. How do you get inspiration and ideas to make new tags? When I make new tags, I tend to consider three things. One, what's something that I like? Two, what's something that other people will like? And three, what's something that hasn't already been done a bunch of times? I want to create tags that I think people will want to order, but that are also new and different. 3. What are your plans for additions to your shop in detail and/or general? As far as my plans for new additions, I'm not really sure. I tend to kind of wing it. I'd like to do more fandomy tags, but the only problem is that I don't really watch TV, so I'm not into the fandoms that are popular right now, so I'd probably make tags of some obscure character or something. I love Disney, but so does everyone else, so I don't want to make yet another batch of Frozen tags. I guess we'll all find out what I'm doing next together. ![]() Cloud Nine by And our last shop for this issue features a nice little fandom collection containing Harry Potter and Pokemon. The larger part for now is made out of stock tags. You should really check them out because the chosen pictures are really great and especially the spring and summer tags are absolutely lovely. 1. Which are your three favorite tags in your shop right now? ![]() I love Japanese culture, and cherry blossoms are a big part of it. This is one of my favorite tags because of how it's a sakura tree branch painted with brush strokes, like an authentic painting in Japan. It's so pretty and simple and inspiring to me. ![]() I don't know, but as soon as I saw this picture, I just felt like running out of the house to the beach. It really gets you in the mood for summer, with all those beach chairs seeming to wait for you! ![]() I just really love the background of the starry sky and how even when there is a name running across it, it doesn't take away from the picture. It's like the name is almost a part of the background. 2. How do you get inspiration and ideas to make new tags? I mostly look at nature photography to get sigtag ideas. I think having a natural background is very pretty! I get inspired by the Flourish themes, too. It just gives me something to work with. 3. What are your plans for additions to your shop in detail and/or general? I've so far really liked making tags to go along with the change of season, so I think I'll continue that when autumn rolls around. I want to add more fandom tags, specifically some T.V. shows and movies that I've watched recently. ~~~ This is it for the shops this issue. And now here is that link that you probably always dream about at night: The Flourish Directory. Have fun at Flourish HiH, have fun! ![]() By Attention everyone! There's a dangerous virus going around the Animagus community! This virus is causing people to involuntarily turn into their animagus forms and not be able to change back. For June's first activity, members wrote drabbles about the virus. Gryffindor earned the most points. June's second activity is Animagus Combat and is loosely based on Pokemon battles. Sign up and then duke it out with another animagus to earn points for each match you play (5pts if you win, 2pts if you lose). Remember to respond within 12 hours, though, or else you forfeit your match. In May's Scavenger Hunt, Ana/ June's Animagus Voting Batch is also up! There are 3 applications this month — 2 lions and 1 snake. Read their applications carefully and submit your votes by June 28, 11pm UTC. If you've never voted before, you can find more information here, and you can consult unscreened votes on past applications. Make sure you check the While having an animagus form isn't required to participate in Animagus activities, it's a good idea to check whether you are still registered. If you'd like to reclaim an animagus form you had in the past, you'll need to comment here. If you'd like a new form, and haven't reapplied before (as you can only do so once), you'll need to leave a comment here saying why your form no longer fits you in order to get the go ahead to reapply. And if you've never applied before, what are you waiting for? Buy The Standard Book of Spells Vol 1-3 from Diagon Alley, then submit your application here! ![]() By Hello, HiH! Raise your hand if you’re still recovering from Hogsmeade! ![]() Okay, good, it’s not just me! Not that I’m surprised, because I pretty much think the best way to describe this past weekend is “action-packed.” There was so much to do, even the fastest HiH-er didn’t have time to get bored. From card Sudoku to spider killing to seeing constellations in the stars (ummm, did anyone else see a dog in like every constellation?), not to mention social activities and balls and sigtag ordering, there was definitely something — and then some! — for everyone. But let’s go back to the basics. This past weekend, Hogsmeade participants got “Lost in the Woods,” and leading us through this very strange camping adventure were our amazing mayors Alex/ The fun kicked off Friday evening with Madam Puffdifoot’s and the Three Broomsticks friending meme, and from there things got crazy. Social highlights of the weekend included being reunited with our missing partners, playing lots of blackjack, figuring out what camping necessity we are, getting our fortunes told by centaurs, practicing our camping ABCs, identifying birds and sharing our camping must-haves. And that wasn’t even counting the points-earning activities, of which there were nearly 30! One of my very favorites included determing what was in the shadows. I particularly liked this one by Jess/ ![]() Not-so-scary image (OR IS IT?) ![]() Some other points-earning activity highlights: Adrienne/ Of course, there were way more activities than that, and I wish we could discuss them all, but like all good things, Hogsmeade and this column have to come to and end. However, there are a few last things I want to mention. First, results are already beginning to pour in (and so far, the Lions are killing it), so make sure to check those out. And if you ordered any sigtags — or even if you didn’t! You never know who loves you! — make sure to stop by the Flourish delivery post and see if there are any shinies waiting for you. I will have more on results and banners and all that good stuff next issue, so for now, maybe go get some sleep or something? Till next time, HiH! ![]() |
