Remember the days before and after a new book and movie came out and how you couldn't wait to share all your excitement and feels and theories with everyone and anyone? Well, it doesn't have to all be in the past. The Harry Potter fandom is still here! Maybe a little smaller, but still here. And it's time to celebrate it!

How do you spend your days (work, school, etc.)? : I work 9-5ish on weekdays and pretend to be an adult when I am. I like to travel given the opportunity (there are usually opportunities) and finding new things to marathon watch on Netflix.

When did you first discover Harry Potter?: I read the first two books between CoS and PoA coming out, and all the others when they came out.
Favorite book?: Prisoner of Azkaban!
Favorite movie?: Hm. None of them, really. The ones that bother me the least are the most canon compliant ones, so PS, CoS, and DH1.
Favorite character(s) or ship(s)?: No ships, my fave characters include Dumbledore, Lupin, and Arthur Weasley.
Favorite moment in the books or movie?: Don't make me choose! XD

What do you like to do online apart from fandom? : I play the occasional random facebook game, I tweet nonsense about my life every now and then. Idg tumblr, so I mostly stay away from it.

What do you look for in an LJ friend? (or twitter, tumblr, etc, if you prefer): I like the idea that people read my entries and comments are a nice way of showing that, but I understand if that doesn't happen. I'm not usually able to keep up with people who post several times a day.
Do you have a friending policy?: Not really. I prefer if we have something in common to get us started talking, but I am not overly fussed about policies~ and such.
What do you post in your journal?: Real life related musings, the occasional meme. My posting frequency is about once a week at best, so I'm not a heavy poster by any means.

Favorite book/move?: Difficult to say - though I think favorite book would be GoF and movie would be CoS (after that they just started cutting so much out of them)
Favorite character(s) or ship(s)?: Heh. Do you have days for me to go on and on? Favorite characters are probably Oliver Wood, Marcus Flint, and Percy Weasley (though there are many others). As far as ships, at the top at the moment are Flint/Wood, Oliver/Percy, Harry/Goyle (yep), and Percy/Harry.

Harry Potter
When did you first discover Harry Potter?: I was in grade 7 or so and the trailer for HP and the Philosopher's Stone had just came out and I promised my cousin that once I'd see the movie I'd read the first book (at the time I had no interest in reading a book about "a school with different houses and a kid who catches a gold ball but I loved movies and the trailer seemed epic).
Favorite book/movie?: I really like Deathly Hallows both the book and the movie. I adore PoA (the book).
Favorite character(s) or ship(s)?: I ship Remus/Sirius, Severus/Harry and Draco/Harry but I love a whole slew of other characters include Regulus and Gellert. And also femmeslash

When did you first discover Harry Potter?: It was the fall of 1999. I remember seeing other people had been reading it at school, and I asked my mom if we could read it. She suddenly pulled out the first three books from the cabinet, and suggested we read them. So of course I said yes. I was 12, in 7th grade. I remember a few months later, we got my Yorkie, Chip (who we no longer have), it was his first night home, in like, mid-October, and we were just finishing up the Sorcerer's Stone, and he was just whining and crying the entire way through the end. So whenever I re-read the book, I think of him. That Halloween, I dressed up like Harry...way before dressing up like Harry was cool. No one knew who I was that year. It was fun. Ah, good memories.

What do you like to do online apart from fandom? : I like to play on FB, Sporcle, sometimes I tweet, I scroll through the IMDb boards of shows and movies that I like. Um...OH! I hang out on Nerd Wars (a 3 month crafting competition on Ravelry, its pretty fun and awesome)
What are your other hobbies? : I like to craft with yarn, I'm in the process of learning to spin, and I crochet, and I'm trying to learn how to knit a little better.

When did you first discover Harry Potter?: probably in high school but when I started reading it is something else entirely: but for when I started reading let's just copy the following -
Between 1998 and 2007 I had diligently avoided everything associated with Harry Potter because I had thought that it (like, say, Pokemon or 'N SYNC) was part of a culture aimed at people five to ten years younger than myself.
Things changed in the summer of 2007, when I was working in the boring town of Los Alamos, which, among other things, preferred to go to bed before 10 PM... until the day Deathly Hallows came out. Amazingly, these people were actually willing to stay up and party in time for a midnight release, which made me decide that maybe HP was enjoyable after all (after all, how bad can anything that induces early birds to stay up later be?)
Two days later, I bought the first book in the series, plowed through it, and finished the entire series within the week; it was like discovering a cool new club at 1:57 AM.
Favorite book?: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Favorite movie?: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; first one I saw in theaters

What are your other hobbies? : good looking and good tasting things? I like hanging out at cafes and brunching (because you can get away with hanging out without a huge group for $20 as opposed to trying to go clubbing at night)... and I used to love going to the beach when I lived in LA

How do you spend your days (work, school, etc.)? : thought I was done with school forever when I defended my dissertation 3 years ago, but am back for another degree in econometrics and mathematical economics in the hopes that this degree will get me a job

When did you first discover Harry Potter?: I was in junior high school. I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I actually resisted for a long time out of spite, because several friends were trying to force me into reading the books, and my young mind could not understand how something could be deserving of such hype. I finally read the first book just to get them off my back, and ended up finishing it in a day and demanding someone give me the next.
Favorite book?: Prisoner of Azkaban.
Favorite movie?: I've never actually watched any of the movies. At least, not with enough conscious thought behind my viewing to have a favorite one.
Favorite character(s) or ship(s)?: Remus/Sirius

Favorite fandom moment?: To be honest, though, I'm not particularly fandom-active. I did go to the midnight release party for the final book just because it felt so much like the end of an era. Oh. Wait. I've got one. I took a trip to London this past February, and had my picture taken at Platform 9 3/4. Hanging out with the other people in line waiting to do the same -- people from all over the world -- was pretty awesome.

Other fandoms you are involved in?: I would say that my involvement in any kind of fandom is drastically limited. I don't read or write fanfic or create fanart or anything like that. I do enjoy discussing the bits of media that capture my attention, analyzing the characters, wondering about the world in which they find themselves, and things like that. But that's about the extent of it. Right now the Marvel comics universe is just about the biggest one for me. Particularly Daredevil, Hawkeye, and The Punisher. I was a huge fan of NCIS prior to Cote de Pablo's departure. Uhm. Ripper Street is a big one with me. Hannibal. Game of Thrones. True Detective. Sherlock. Star Trek: TNG. You get the picture.
What do you like to do online apart from fandom? : I don't do a whole lot of fandom online. The better part of my online time is spent on other ventures. (Though admittedly, LiveJournal does still encompass quite a bit of it.)
What are your other hobbies? : Photography, sport shooting, reading, travel, watching films, just about anything to do with the outdoors, writing, people-watching, analyzing media to an aggravating degree, attempting the odd creative endeavor (generally disastrously)...
What's your most recent addiction/obsession? : The Marvel comics universe. Matt Fraction's Hawkeye. Mark Waid's Daredevil.
How do you spend your days (work, school, etc.)? : I graduated in December with a degree in sociology/anthropology and dual minors in disability studies and English. Promptly upon graduation, I took a job that I absolutely hated, and it was insinuated to me that I ought to do some shady things, so I quit. Currently back on the job hunt, looking for a position that fulfills all my superhero fantasies so I can singlehandedly make the world a better place. Or something.

I watch Hannibal and OuaT (Snow/Charming FTW!) and Revolution every week as well.
What are your other hobbies? : Reading
How do you spend your days (work, school, etc.)? :I'm an adjunct professor and full-time mother of soon-to-be-two. HOLY SHIT I DON'T EVEN HAVE ONESIES. That's okay, naked baby times. I'm into some crunchy mothering shit like babywearing and baby led weaning and physiologic birth, but mostly I don't talk about it much because everyone has to make the decisions that are right for them. I love Jesus and Darwin and I think that anyone who considers religion and faith to be at cross-purposes doesn't have a good enough imagination. I hate pseudoscience. My current scientific meanderings include things like zoonotic diseases because diseases are super cool (unless you catch one!). But mostly my LJ is about nothing, like Seinfeld what.
My fav hobby is procrastinating via streams of consciousness.

When did you first discover Harry Potter?: Hmm. I think around the third book whenever that was. I got the first book when it came out by my aunt but never ended up reading it because those first chapters are so boring.

Favorite movie?: I'd say Deathly Hallows part two. Just because it's a great movie. I also really enjoy Order of the Phoenix also because it's a great movie.

House you would sort yourself into (or that you’ve been sorted into): Any time I've joined a sorting community, regular or hybrid, I've ended up in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff (or Ravenpuff). When I was a member of this community, I was a Hufflepuff so I'd go with that.
When did you first discover Harry Potter?: The year the very first book came out, when people were really getting hyped up over it and before the movies were even close to being a thing. I used to have a "competition" with my neighbor to see who'd finish the book first when each one came out. He always finished them before me.
Favorite book?: Order of the Phoenix is the answer I usually give but it's been so long since I've read any of them I don't know whether or not that would still be my answer.
Favorite movie?: I loved both parts of The Deathly Hallows. We'll pretend it's one full move instead of split into two parts. :P
Favorite character(s) or ship(s)?: Harry, Hermione, Ron, Hagrid, Sirius.
Favorite moment in the books or movie?: I don't remember anything in the books, really. It's been far too long. >.> For movies? Even though I don't see romantic chemistry in them, I love the moments where it's just Harry and Hermione, when Ron has gone off because he got all jealous, and they're dancing and goofing. Also the scene in the cemetery.
Do you or have you participated in fandom? (i.e., wrote fic, make graphics, joined a comm, etc.): I attempted to write one Harry Potter fan fiction a LONG time ago, after Order of the Phoenix came out. In that case, I did have Harry and Hermione together and I also had Sirius living. Beyond that, I did make some icons at some point and I've been in a number of sorting communities. The Sorting Hat was my very first one.
Does it count if I've now been to the Harry Potter park twice? :D Oh, I also went to the exhibit when it was up in Boston. That was pretty cool.

What do you like to do online apart from fandom? : This technically counts as being part of fandom, but one of my main things is role playing. For the last three years, almost to the day (April 28th) I've been running a Star Wars message board role play. Besides that, I write attempts at fantasy novels and participate in NaNoWriMo every November as well as Camp NaNo.
What are your other hobbies? : Photography (sort of. It's not something I do very regularly), fiddle around with graphics...watch movies.
What's your most recent addiction/obsession? : Firefly has been a big obsession for me for the last three years (I came into the fandom late). Castle is another obsession. Star Wars is always an obsession.

Do you have a friending policy?: Friends only. I don't expect people to comment on every single entry I post as long as they don't expect me to post every single entry of theirs and then decide to not be friends with me because I don't comment enough. I read my f-list multiple times a day, I just don't always have something to say on entries that people post.
What do you post in your journal?: Stuff about work, school when it applies (hopefully this summer), my friends, family, writing, fandoms, role playing.

When did you first discover Harry Potter?: I remember hearing about it when it first came out but I didn't start reading it until Deathly Hallows was published in 2007.
Favorite book?: OOTP. I know people hate it, and I can see why, but that's the book where Harry Potter (both the series and the character) truly became epic to me.
Favorite movie?: Deathly Hallows: Part I, I think it's the best and most faithful adaptation of the books.
Favorite character(s) or ship(s)?: ALL THE CANON SHIPS EVERYONE HATES
EVEN THEIR CREATOR- Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Dumbledore/Grindlewald, and the obscure ships like Draco/Asteria and George/Angelina. For characters it's Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom and tons of others. When did you first discover Harry Potter?: Late 1998, when I was 11 years old. I was the first person I knew who read the first book; my mom had read *about* the series somewhere and picked up the first book for us to read, and when we traveled to London that spring we saw some kids reading CoS (already released in the UK) on the tube, literally got off at the next stop, grabbed the nearest random stranger and were like TELL US WHERE THERE IS A BOOKSTORE so we could buy it :P My whole family is into HP, it's adorable. (And my dad and brother both actually look quite a bit like Daniel Radcliffe . . . ).
Then I started giving the first book to my friends as birthday gifts throughout the year and watched as the epidemic spread . . .
Favorite book?: Order of the Phoenix.
Favorite movie?: I'm pretty meh about the movies on the whole, but I like 5-7 (8?) better than the first four.
Favorite character(s) or ship(s)?: I love the Marauders, though I don't ship Remus/Sirius. (I don't mind if anyone else does, but I just never saw it, myself). I love the Black family and their fucked-up ridiculousness, and I like trying to get into the minds of the various Death Eaters and explain the motivations they have for participating in the movement. I mostly just ship couples that are specified as canon, though most stuff I've done isn't particularly ship-based. My favorite individual characters are Remus Lupin, Albus Dumbledore, Bellatrix Lestrange, Regulus Black, Severus Snape, and Hermione Granger.
Favorite moment in the books or movie?: I always prefer the books to the movies . . . but any of the flashback and Pensieve chapters, as well as that time Remus just EXPLAINS ALL THE THINGS in PoA. I love backstory.
Do you or have you participated in fandom? (i.e., wrote fic, make graphics, joined a comm, etc.): I've written fanfiction, mostly Marauders-era stuff. (Most of it is super old, but can be found here (https://www.fanfiction.net/u/557365/)). I did some crappy fanart in high school. It's been a while but I've been in some Marauders-era RP communities in the past, and I used to be an active member of the Lumos! LJ community before it went under. I am still known to expound at length upon certain HP-topics without much prompting (like my secret theories of how House sorting really works) and rant about JK Rowling's proclivity to reveal random game-changing information in interviews every couple of years.

I like a lot of musicals and Shakespeare though I don't know if those count as "fandom." I am also liable to get excited about (for me) nostalgic stuff like Chronicles of Narnia, Anne of Green Gables, '90s Nickelodeon cartoons, original My Little Pony, and Disney and Studio Ghibli films.
What do you like to do online apart from fandom? : Blog, mostly. Watch YouTube videos to learn how to do stuff.
What are your other hobbies? : Writing original fiction, cooking, playing Sims 2 (yes I still play Sims 2 it is the best one) . . . but otherwise between sleeping and being a goddamned responsible adult (ugh) there's just not a whole lot of time for other things.
What's your most recent addiction/obsession? : I've been on a renewed writing kick lately after a few years of dry spell. I won NaNoWriMo last November and I've just kept on going with both noveling and fanfiction. I've even been trying my hand at smutty fanfiction for the first time recently and my 16-year-old self is side-eying me so hard right now.
How do you spend your days (work, school, etc.)? : Work full-time. My job is ridiculous. I work for a company that makes tofu. I hope to stop doing that soon.

I know everyone is afraid LJ is dying but I'm still really active, myself. I don't mind lurkers (fun fact: I've never actually done a friends cut), but I'd love some friends.
Do you have a friending policy?: I'll friend basically anyone who friends me as long as I get some kind of message or comment so I know they're not spam, but I don't add to my Trusted filter until I feel like I truly know and trust you (and I'm certain you're legal to read about adult topics, since they sometimes come up).
