Hey guys! The Order of the Phoenix (hh_order) is looking for some new members! So, if you're interested please take a look at the user info of the Order to see what kinds of things go on about there.

Bascially what we do is go around to other communities/websites/personal LJ's and promote our loverly community!

How do I become a member you ask? Well just

1. Why do you want to be a Member? I love HiH and would love to see it become a larger, more diverse HP-related community. Plus, I'd really like to help out the community, and I think this would be the way to do that.

2. Are there any restrictions on your internet time that will prevent you from completing weekly assignments? None at all. I'm online everyday, and could complete any assignments on time.

How about creating a mock admissions letter in PSP or something, (ie: "Dear ___, It is our pleasure to inform you that you've been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To confirm, please join hogwartsishome and put in your application for sorting at platform_934. Sincerely yours, Headmaster.") and posting in journals/comms.

1. Why do you want to be a Member?: I think it would be a great accomplishment in my HIH history! I feel that I could really help to promote our community and do all assignments on time!
2. Are there any restrictions on your internet time that will prevent you from completing weekly assignments?: Just school, but I wouldn't really call that a restriction since I go on the internet at school all the time and when Im at home, I NEVER get off the computer. Kinda sad actually lol!

Come up with a promotional idea for the community: I think we should have like a carnaval site thing, where all officials can make comments and offer free graphics, advice and it can be open to any one and offer other free things to try to promote the community. It also can have an IRC chat for any questions/concerns of people wanting to become members!

1. Why do you want to be a Member? I enjoy this community so much, and I would definitely love to help promote it and convince other people to join. I would love the responsibility and to share my ideas and creativity.

1. Why do you want to be a Member?: over the past few months I've diligently committed myself to this wonderful community. It's helping me expand and encourage my creativity as an artist through the icon contests, and I'm learning more about the series Harry Potter in general. Hogwartsishome is a friendly and welcoming community which, I feel, should be known to all HP fans. If I can help spread the word about the community that gives me a welcomed break between stressful times and, well, boring times, then I'd be extremely grateful for the opportunity.
2. Are there any restrictions on your internet time that will prevent you from completing weekly assignments?: I go to University but my schedule is spread out to an extent that I have ample enough time for studying and fooling around on the computer.
3. Do you have access to a graphics software that would enable you to make promotional banners? (eg. Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, The Gimp etc.): I have both Adobe Photoshop as well as The Gimp 2, and have experience using both.
4. Come up with a promotional idea for the community: Maybe we could create a journal for potential members, for people to come in and see what we are all about, kind of like an interactive FAQ. I know that people don't really know what we do. When I got sorted I was confused and wasn't sure what to do, it was a "okay, what do I do now?" kind of situation.

1. Why do you want to be a Member? Because I pimp HIH like crazy and I figure I might as well be doing it in a more official capacity than just constantly posting "JOIN HIH BECAUSE YOU LOVE MEEEEE" in my journal ;)

2. Are there any restrictions on your internet time that will prevent you from completing weekly assignments? I really can't get online while I am at work, but I still have plenty of net time on the nights and weekends and certainly enough time to do what is required of members.

3. Do you have access to a graphics software that would enable you to make promotional banners? (eg. Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, The Gimp etc.) I have Adobe Creative Suite CS which included (among other things) Photoshop and Image Ready. I also have the Macromedia Studio MX which included Flash MX, which would be great for making some awesome animated avertisements. And, you know, I'm that chick that designed half the HIH layouts and, um, I'll do the one for The Order sooon.

4. Come up with a promotional idea for the community: Create icons with HIH it it's url or something and use said icon(s) in at least one post a day for a week's time (or longer) when you post to other communities. Make it something extremely cool or witty so it catches people's eye.

Another idea that may or may not have been tried is to approach sites like Lumos, TLC, Mugglenet, Leixcon, etc. about affiliating with or linking to HIH. Those sites get MAD traffic.

Finally, something I've already done... find a local Harry Potter Meetup group (via meetup.com or a similar site) and take some HIH fliers (like the ones we did for the HBP release) to pass out to it's members at the next meeting. If people can see right there in person how excited you are about the community, it might help sway them to join and what better place to recruit more HP fans? :)

1. Why do you want to be a Member? I think it'd be a new experience for me. I like to be involved in organizing and making things happen. I think it'd be a good challenge for me to do this. I don't know exactly what the projects really entail, or how effective I would be, but I'm willing to give it a shot. It sounds interesting, from what I can tell, for sure.

2. Are there any restrictions on your internet time that will prevent you from completing weekly assignments? Not even the slightest. I'm up at all hours of the night, and on quite a bit during the day and weekends. The most problem I run into is getting bogged down with school work and projects, but that doesn't seem to be a problem like it was last semester, thankfully.

3. Do you have access to a graphics software that would enable you to make promotional banners? (eg. Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, The Gimp etc.) Indeed. I use PSP7. (I like it old school). I'm always making graphics. I find it's the best way I can contribute to projects usually. I like to help in that area more than anything.

4. Come up with a promotional idea for the community Hm, let's see. Well. I think it would be a great idea to reach out to other sorting communities. With the TriWizard fever that swept through the summer, it seems some of the communities are a bit closer now. I think if we helped to spread the word about each other, it might help. "Sister schools" if you will. It'd be neat to have a sort of "penpal" program between schools, but I'm not sure what you would do with it on a promotions level.

Also, I think it would help to possibly award points or knuts for people advertising HiH in their userinfos. Or friend referrals.. something like that. A little kick in the pants to get them to spread the word. The best way to spread things about Potter is through the Potter fan network, after all.

I didn't check out the community until after I posted my original application *blushes* So I wasn't the first one to come up with the whole acceptance letter idea, huh?

Um...anyway.

Come up with a promotional idea for the community Members could come up with HiH-related poems (haikus, for example) or short catch-phrases and add to an image that they believe represents the feel of the community. Like, create a poem relating to the witty-ness of Ravenclaws in the comm & add it to an image which imbodies that idea.

Or, have each member create a little comic about HiH and it's members to spread around. iharthdarth and potterpuffs are so well-liked, it would get people's attentions.

2. Are there any restrictions on your internet time that will prevent you from completing weekly assignments? I'm on basically 24/7 except when I'm at work, which can run from 8:00am to 4:00am. Weekends I spend with family and friends but I still am on the internet and LJ about 5-8 hours then too.

1. Why do you want to be a Member? Because I simply adored the OotP group in the books. I loved what they were doing for the magical world, and I loved how there was such variety between the different members, but at the same time they were all united together. Applying that to LJ, I LOVE this community obsessively. It is my no.1 thing to participate in on the net. And I'd love for some other LJ members who are Harry Potter fans to know about it and join up.

I want Photoshop really badly. However, two of my close friends have Photoshop, and I'm sure I could bribe them with cookies if it was essential.

I have quite a few ideas, some which would be hard, and some not. We could search users with Harry Potter in their interests list, which is many, and post advertisments in their journal. However some people don't always like that. Advertising in other communities always gets some people along, as long as you check that you're allowed first. Putting some kind of sign in your LJ userinfo works too. Finally, tell everyone that you know who has an LJ, and also make sure to pimp hogwartsishome in your own LJ!
