Notre Dame and Hogwarts

If you ever could imagine a place like Hogwarts you must be thinking of the University of Notre Dame. The great hall of Hogwarts was modeled after the one here at Notre Dame. The inventor of mugglenet.com is a student here. We have amazing teachers, strict rules, and an amazing legacy. Our residence halls compete much like those of Hogwarts. We have pride, colors and mascots for each hall. We have sprawling grounds laced with trees and mysterious lakes. We have an encompassing atmosphere that embraces everyone and leaves out no one. Tomorrow we inaugurate our new president much like Hogwarts soon will and we say good-bye to the longest reigning university president much like Hogwarts just did. So if you are looking to grow to be a real wizard think about Notre Dame. It might just be the place for you. Plus everyone here loves Harry Potter.

The University of Notre Dame is located in South Bend, Indiana. www.nd.edu . Have a look and look at the art work in our basillica because while we may not be able to enchant our dining hall roof, we did manage to paint something more beautiful than any real sky.

Ours is here (http://www.nd.edu.au/index.shtml) not as pretty, but still it's a great Uni. I'm either going there or to a different one, but I'd prefer Notre Dame.

Hey linus, I'm in Breen-Phillips and we are the babes (pigs). Our colors are Pink and Blue. We have Ramblers, Moose, Knights, Frogs, Big Red, Purple Weasles, Chicks, Ducks, Pyros and others there are 27 halls here and we even have hall of the year and women and men's hall of the year.

Hurrah! I'm a U of M alum! This post sent me into fits of rage just remembering the game a couple weekends ago.. GRRR! Also, despite being modeled after ND(I didn't know that, btw, that's really cool), the U of M Law Quad is exceptionally similar as well. Just walking by it you can hear people seeing it for the first time saying, "That looks like Hogwarts." It's quite amusing.

yeah you can major in film art and televison here. its a great place we were talking about it and actually our foounding father looks like dumbledore and a lot of his reasons for starting the school are similar to that of the founders of hogwarts. plus we call freshman first years how much more do you need.

Dining Hall at University College, Oxford, according to everything I've read. One of the reasons why a lot of GOF shooting took place in Oxford city. Where did you hear that, just out of interest?

Shot there yes. But, modeled not entirely. A lot of the ideas for the lay out as well as the actual look and feel came from the hall known as South Dining Hall. If you look at pictures of the our halls head table and lay out, the similarities are striking. The information I used came not only from the university itself, but also from the guy who invented mugglenet.

I think both universities must have been involved in the design because I've definitely seen Oxford being used in the Making Of documentaries I've seen. Still, I'm glad it's not totally based on one because that gives film Hogwarts its own unique feel.

Anyway, thankyou for answering my question so politely. I know Oxford quite well but don't know any US universities by sight so I'd never even heard that information before. It's nice not to have someone jump down your throat on asking a question like this (which always seems to happen to me)!

I definitely will at some point. I like old buildings, I'm a geek like that (I go to University near Durham, where they filmed the Quidditch, Library and Potions scenes from one and two, and my touristy visits there prove that :-p).
