Katrina

I'm not sure if this is allowed or not, but I'm desperate and it seemed like a good idea.

All of my family was situated in the areas most affected by Katrina (New Orleans/Slidell/Bogalusa, Louisiana; Gulf Port, Mississippi), and I haven't heard anything from them since the hurricane hit. I think they stayed behind, thinking Katrina wouldn't be this bad, but I'm not sure. I've called the Baton Rouge police department, but they knew little more than I did about what was going on and couldn't offer any phone numbers which might be of help.

I'm asking that if ANYONE at all comes across a list of survivors, deaths, places where people are being sent, or anything at ALL which might help, to please forward me the link or phone number. You can leave a comment on my journal, send me a text, or email me at my lj address.

For those of you who live in the areas affected, or know someone close to you who does, I wish the best. You're all in my prayers.

my friend just made it out of New Orleans safety. She has sadly told me she doesnt know of anywhere to get in contact with them, or where they could be. Some where shipped out to Atlanta. I wish I could help. Keep us updated on your situation

I'm sure they've started compiling a list of some sort in order for families to get in touch with each other. It takes time, though. It's just incredibly hard to be patient in a time like this.

I lived in New Orleans for 3.5 years and Long Beach, MS for over 4 years. While I don't have family in either of those places, I do have close friends that I haven't been able to get in touh with either, in addition to the friends in Mobile, AL.
If someone does happen to send you a list of survivors/deaths, do you mind sending it my way? I've been searching for anything too and have had no luck. I had to turn off the TV because I kept getting afraid they'd show pictures of the places I used to live and I'd have to think "that could have been me."

I've gotten to where I can't watch the news anymore, I've seen pictures of Slidell and it just freaks me out more.

The Coast Guard will go to the last known location of your missing loved one, but you have to submit a request.
