OMG I finished HBP at 12:40 this morning! It was sooo crazy!
Spoilers ahead

Ha-ha I was just reading the book to Rasheeda cuz she donst have it yet in St Lucia!
Anyways OMG this book! I'm gonna write in random points
1-somehow I figured out that Snape was the Half-Blood Prince like 3 Chapters before he said it. I don’t know how though. But he turned to Evil, like there was never any proof you know, that Snape was actually evil. I was so surprised in Chapter 2*spinners end* I was so not expecting that. But I think snape didn’t actually know the plan, he Lugimens...ed it. The plan for Narcissa and Draco…
2-When I was reading the book, I realized how hard this will be to make into a movie and cuz honestly, and you can’t miss out any of the memories and like everything else has to be in, EVERYTHING!

3- Dementors breeding? That seriously freaked me the out.

4-When Moaning myrtle was talking about a boy, Neville was the first name that came to mind, but Draco! I was surprised, but I felt like cuddling with an evil snarky blond 16 year old boy ‘_* I thought it was soooo cute, I bet he looked really sexy! Haaha anyways, woah that “Secrumsempra” is effing CRAZY!! I woulda started screaming if I was Harry. But Draco didn’t seem in too much pain. He was just shaking, no screaming or moaning…? This might have been when I realized Snape was the Half blood Prince. He knew how to fix the wounds. And I believe that this was his own spell as said in the fight in the end. But just an added note, the spell that made Ron go Upside down, Harry noticed it wasn’t written during Sirius and James time, that’s because it was created by Eileen Prince, Snape’s mother. That could be 50 years before Harry’s time.

5-This book was so sad!!!! I started crying when Dumbledore was drinking the potion and he was like screaming in agony "No! I don’t ...I don’t want anymore!" omg and then I was crying the WHOLE end of the book at 1 o’clock in the morning and my face was all red and my eyes hurt and :'( The thing is, I knew it was coming, someone had scanned the page where its like “he…Snape Killed” ext… and the person said it was page 606. so when I got the book, I opened it to that page and it was all clear. SO I didn’t believe it. Then I was looking through the end, and I saw it at like page 588 and I was in awe! Honestly, the potion drinking part was soo sad, and then when Harry goes to Dumbledore when everyone is around him, so sad!

6- I was trying to figure out what exactly connects CoS to HBP because all I really noticed was (CoS) Tom Riddle and (HBP) his background and (CoS) the diary/memory being a (HBP) Hurcrux. Then I read this… it’s the FAQ on Jkrowling.com
“The link I mentioned between books two and six does not, in fact relate to the ”Half-Blood Prince” (because there is no trace left of HBP storyline in “Chamber”) Rather, it relates to a discovery Harry made in “Chamber: that foreshadows something that he finds out in “Prince”
Is that the only connection? I had thought something more major woulda have been the subject at hand, but I guess I was wrong.

7- Was there any indication of the two-sided mirror in HBP? Joanne Rowling had mention as the second spoiler/last question on the FAQ that “it will help more then you think. but you’ll have to read the final books to understand that. Did I miss it? Or are we waiting for book 7?

1-Ron and Lavender was sooo ranchy! All they did was make out I WANNA BE LAVENDER! Lol. But if it was me, we wouldn’t have just made out ;) joking!
2-Ginny and Harry was bound to happen! It was a dirty relation ship though. Harry was having*dreams*(Aka fantasies) about her. He had a raging beast inside him! Geez horny boy!
3-Tonks and Lupin, I thought Tonks was in love with Sirius (who cares if there cousins?)But that was soo cute at the end where all the Adult Weasleys are on Tonks’side helping Remus think about it. And then they were holding hands! Soo cute, but I don’t get why Tonks’hair is mousy…? And I’m assuming her new Patronouse is a Werewolf?

I think for now thats everything, Iv been workign on this all day!

my eyes hurt so badly from crying too. a friend brought up a point to me. do you think dumbledore was asking snape to kill him. it was never really specified was it.. he said "severus.. please.." they say he was begging and pleading.. but to as to what. and then snape yelling at harry NOT TO CALL HIM A COWARD. just a theory. i'd like your thoughts on that actually. to see if me and lily are just insame.

Snape's not evil!

At least I still don't think he is.

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote, except, how did you know Levicorpus was made up by Eileen Prince? Maybe I didn't read those scenes carefully enough... I did, however, notice that James used it in OOTP...so it can't've been a secret between Snape and his mom, if James knew it, right? I just re-read that part in OOTP, and James made Snape flip upside-down in the air...without saying anything...which means not only did he somehow know Levicorpus, regardless of who invented it and how he found it out, but he could do nonverbal magic, as could Snape - and they were just finishing their 5th year.

Any thoughts?

I cried for at least an hour. I started crying when Dumbledore was drinking, and didn't stop until after I'd finished the book. Also, check out this person's theories (http://www.livejournal.com/users/garlandgraves/3409.html) for stuff about Dumbledore's death, and many other interesting plot points.

Maybe James knew it becuase Snape used it on him first...?

I have a question -- how, exactly, does one invent a spell? Do you create an incantation and an intended action, and then *poof* suddenly, the whole wizarding world can use it? Or are all spells pre-existing, and you simply discover them? That seems unlikely, but I'm having some trouble getting my mind around instantlycreated!spells.

#1-Dude...I was like, it's either Lily or Snape. Then, I thought more about it and decided it had to be Snape. C'mon. Potions! Duh. I didn't really think it should have been in the title. I don't know...it just didn't seem like it was that mysterious to be in the freakin' title. It should've been "and Slughorn's memory" or something like that.

#2 - I <3 Spinner's End. I am so confused! I don't know if I'd prefer good-on-the-outside-but-rotten-on-the-inside Snape...or the opposite. I can't decide. Either way...Snape is just...WOW.

#3 - I don't want to know how dementor's breed. *shudder* If they live off of unhappiness...how can they possibly have sex, as it is supposed to be enjoyable and fun (at least according to Dr. Cameron /random House reference).

#4 - Sectumsempra. Ah. That pretty much ruled out Lily as the HBP. Haha. And Draco crying...? I think JKRs been reading fanfics. (no, seriously, I think she has). That was the perfect setup for a H/Dr "I hate you. Now kiss me." scene. Alas.

#5 - The potion drinking wasn't what made me cry. The line, "I am not worried, Harry...I am with you." TEARS, I tell you...Buckets of Tears!

#6 - The connection...I always wondered how you preserve a memory of yourself that can get stronger and become real. Interesting. So...do the Horcruxes act of their own accord (obviously, the one in Voldemort and the Diary did...so shouldn't the ring and the locket, etc. as well?)

#7 - Must be in book 7. Or I missed it, too. It happens when you stay up late reading and don't sleep. =D

The Ships-
1. EW. Gross. Barf. Won-Won? No. Ron was just trying to prove to Ginny that he could get some action. Dork.
2. If I hear about the beast again...I may just vomit. That was so lame and stupid and it was sooooooooooooooooo annoying. C'mon...there are so many better ways to describe it (and they aren't even dirty!) I hated that part of the book. I just want to white it out. Unfortunately, the pages aren't white. Damn.
3. Tonks/Lupin is way too random. The thought that JKR would even consider putting incestuous relationships (Sirius/Tonks) into the book...between main characters...? EWWWW. And I'm assuming the lanky brown hair was just to illustrate that she wasn't herself...or maybe make her seem more wolf-ish?

That's my $0.02...I really should get back to work. But this is so much more fun!

"1. EW. Gross. Barf. Won-Won? No. Ron was just trying to prove to Ginny that he could get some action. Dork."

true that. he could have had Hermione he obviously likes her...or else why would he get mad that she kissed Viktor Krum?

#5 is spot on...My dad was standing in the kitchen and I went "oooooooooooooooh" in a teary voice and he looked at me in alarm...I just said..."it's just sad...and sweet" and he rolled his eyes and walked out of the room lol

1. I disagree that "The Half Blood Prince" shouldn't of been the title. I think that most everything that happened in the book could be tied back to the half-blood prince. (Harry saving Ron's life, Harry getting the Felix Felicius which helped him get Slughorn's memory in the first place, Harry almost killing Malfoy, etc.) Plus Snape seemed to be a very main character in this book and the whole half-blood prince thing really showed Snape's evil (or former-evil?) side. And for the record...I was completely surprised that Snape was the Half-blood Prince. At first I thought, yeah, it could be Snape. But then the book was dated 50 years ago so I thought...couldn't of been Snape...I'm stumped.

And...the theory of Dumbledore and Snape has just made my day 1,000 times better. Somehow, though, I knew that Dumbledore was going to die...it just seemed logical. But now this theory gives me hope that Snape wasn't really evil...plus it just makes a lotta sense.

BOOK=AWESOME. Dementors breeding=creeped me out too. I guess the mirror thing is in Book 7. And I couldn't believe that Snape killed Dumbledore and that he was also the Half Blood Prince. I was hoping someone cool would be the HPB not a two-timing traitor a-hole.

I didn't cry when Dumbledore died but I was extremely upset & delirious and it was part of the reason I couldn't sleep Saturday night. I cried for 232 years when Sirius died in OotP though, but I guess because he was my favorite character. :/

My friend just thought of a theory for the whole Dementors breeding thing.

If Dementors are mainly just fear, they might be able to breed with everyone panicking in the Wizarding world.

Maybe?

I speak latin almost fluently, so I knew immediately that Sectumsempra involved either something being cut, sliced, or divided into sections.

I would have tried all those spells out on an object, like a doll or something, before I used them on a person.

Here is a theory my friend and I came up with:
In the beginning of the book [Spinner's End] we read about Snape taking part in the Unbreakable Vow wiht Narcissa. At that very moment [whether or not we understood it at the time] Dumbledore had to die. If Draco didnt kill him, Snape would have to. Later on in the book, it mentions Snape and Dumbledore having a heated discussion containing sentences from Snape such as "I wont do this." "No" "I cant do that, I made a mistake." We believe that as soon as Snape made the Vow, he told Dumbledore. Dumbledore gave Harry the lessons so that Harry could/know how to kill Voldemort once Dumbledore was gone. Right before Dumbledore dies, the book says that Dumbledore is "pleading" with Snape. But if you look closely, it seems that Dumbledore is reminding Snape that he must do it. Finally, in the 2nd to last chapter Harry kept calling Snape a coward, and Snape was TRULY hurt. We submit that Snape was so hurt because he just had to kill Dumbledore.

Thoughts?

Totally agree. I think that you are so right. I read that theory a couple of times today. After I heard that theory this the only one that works in the long run.

I like the movies - but the books are always better. I think if JKR tried to write the books so that they would fit into 2 hour movie slot I would be devastated!

Maybe this way they will make it in 2 parts or something... oh well - nice challenge for the director hey?
