House blankets

hello fellow Hogwarts students!

with the stamp of approval by funn_bunn_83, i am glad to announce a chance for you all to buy hand made crocheted blankets with House colors!

i do charge for materials and for shipping, or i'll take trades. depending on where you live, the price differs (because of shipping) but the cost will be between $30 to $45. as far as trades go, just tell me what you have to offer and i'll consider (like lenabee is knitting me a Puff scraf in exchange for her blanket) what we can work out.

just remember it takes a while to make one of these so the process will be a bit slow.

at the moment, no. i only have part of lenabee's done and it's not enough to get the gist of it.

but they are wide and long enough to use as a blanket, but not big enough to use as a bed spread or anything larger like that.

i'm not sure - it would depend on the yarn - i wouldn't want to use any cheapo yarn on a hat cause it would scratch the face.

what kind of yarn is your friend making your scarf out of - that way the colors will match?

i had to use white and blue on this one because they didn't have a nice silver color at Wal-Mart (and i was too broke at the time to check Micheal's) and since they are being made for different people, i'm willing to do either sets of colors, book or movie.

but if lenabee decides she hates this one, i'll do another.

I have a heavy iron penannular brooch I'm not using, and if you'd be able to use it (my ex-husband wore it to a couple of RenFaires) and think it's a fair trade, I'd love to swap it. I could probably tuck in an Enabler's Starter Set of BPAL imps as well. I got it from Jas. Townsend (http://jas-townsend.com/) but they don't seem to carry this particular style anymore and I don't have a camera, but it's sort of in between The Rough Iron Penannular brooch here (https://www.patternsoftime.com/Brooch4.html) and the Large Iron Cloak Pin with intricate hand wrought iron decoration here (http://www.jelldragon.com/cloak_pins.htm) in appearance. It's very sturdy and has only been worn a couple of times.

Let me know if you think it'd be a workable trade; I'm severely strapped for cash but would love a crocheted blanket in Slytherin colors. Plus, barter is just cool.

No rush; I've been too lazy to list it on eBay, so it'll be sitting on my shelf. If knitting and crocheting is your thing you could probably make a nice shawl/mantle thingie to wear it on, too. And if you decide against this particular trade, Jas. Townsend has some smaller, more delicate penannulars for a very reasonable price.

I might be up for trading with you, I make jewelry (examples of which can be seen here (http://www.livejournal.com/~harl/128660.html). Granted, a piece along those lines would cost a lot more than 40 or 50 bucks, considering they're all sterling silver and precious stones, but I also do bead and wire work, as well as hemp necklaces (example here (http://marvel-universe.com/min/hemp.jpg) of the hemp and here (http://marvel-universe.com/min/necklace.jpg) for a really bad scan example of a ooold wirework necklace I did), I know none of those are really Harry Potter themed, but I can do house colors or whatever you like, if you're interested. Perhaps one wire and one hemp, as I don't currently have access to smelting tools for the silver, or something along those lines.

Well, it's really up to you. You can let me take creative license and go crazy and you won't know what it looks like until I'm done (a bad idea, if you're the impatient type, like me ;)Heh!) Or you can tell me you want yellow and black and white or whatever colors and I'll try and make you something set to your specifications. And I can whip hemp stuff up real fast, so I don't mind tossing a necklace or a anklet into the bargain, too. Since it does take you a long time to make the blankets, I want it to be an even trade.

Only real requirement is that I'd need measurements of your neck/arm/ankle/whatever, to make sure I got the width right.

Haha, everybody's already offered jewelry. I don't know if you'd be interested, but my specialty is making chainmail-type stuff. I could do one headdress in the colors of your choice, which I would sell for between $30 and 40, or a bracelet/choker set in house colors (or the colors of your choice, especially because I'm a little low on black rings ATM), or...well, just name something and I'll see what I can do.

Drats, and knitting scarfs is the only thing I can do...well, I can make quidditch sweaters, but those take ages and are far more expensive. Or I could do hat and mittens (or hand warmers) and socks but then I don't think those would be enough. hmm, since you've already got a scarf in the making I'll have to think of something else (or pay...). Or maybe you have a request for something to be knit? Cause that's about all I can do.

I could do that, although unless you want tube socks I'll have to figure out how to do a heel (it's just something I never bothered to learn since I never had to make socks before), but since you've got so many ordes ahead of me, I figure I have time to learn.

hmm, would you like them to be just plain base colour with some stripes (and if so, black or yellow for the base?), or do you want some sort of patterend thing (might take longer, but it's more fun for me)
