We have a lot of announcements for the start of March. First of all, your points...

Point Totals for February

Slytherin - 886

Which bring our new totals to ...

How the points broke down... )

Which brings me to the outrageous news that with our new Prefects and a new start of term, Hufflepuff has won the House Cup! By two points! Congratulations, Badgers!! Your banners may be found under the cut!

So now, we have the start of a brand new term! The points will be cleared and everyone will have a chance to gain the lead! As I mentioned, our new Prefects are chosen. I would like to welcome the following members into their Official Positions with open arms and wish our previous Prefects nothing but the best.

Congratulations new Prefects! Please check your invites to join the appropriate communities / accept applicable mod rights as soon as possible. :)

February was a busy month for HiH! I was astounded by the participation levels we reached. All of you deserve a huge pat on the back, but the two that should be beaten raw are February's Students of the Month -- that's right. There are two of you who did such a great job that you deserve to be recognized.

First, [livejournal.com profile] tangerinesidhe of Gryffindor. Merely looking through the participation points and knuts I was amazed. Consider this -- you earn less knuts than points for activities, and not all acitivites earn knuts at all! [livejournal.com profile] tangerinesidhe walked away from February with a whopping 114 knuts in her pocket. Not only this, but the drive and ambition of [livejournal.com profile] tangerinesidhe was blatant as she pushed her house to participate and take part in the fun. Congrats!

Second, we had a marvelous time just this past weekend during the much anticipated Quidditch match. This was due largely in part to our very own [livejournal.com profile] jacquie_, also of Gryffindor. She pulled all the stops and made sure that everything went off without a hitch -- even performed some amazing last minute miracles. She deserves a huge round of applause for making our first Quidditch match so fun!

Speaking of the Quidditch match, this brings me to a few small discussions. First of all, the match went very well if I do say so myself. The players seemed very eager to participate, they knew their jobs, they played a good game. I also must comend Ravenclaw for answering every single question correctly, and Gryffindor, whose seeker accomplished their job with impeccable timing. I look forward to seeing the other matches soon!

Next, we all know that Slytherin has had its revenge. ;) Excellent pranking, Snakes! I was glad to see that there were no hard feelings and/or severe wanking.

Last bit of Modly discussion is the recent bit of voting complications at [livejournal.com profile] platform_934. I would like to remind everyone that "Muggle" votes are designated for those who try blatantly to push their way into a particular house. "No Votes" are reserved for those who have provided too little information. While house bashing is against the rules, it does not warrant either one of these votes. Please keep this in mind. Those who do not act according to the rules will be dealt with by a Mod; please just sort the applicants accordingly, even if you see rules being broken. If you don't see Mod action taken within a day, please contact a Mod so that it can be dealt with. Do not flame applicants. Remember, your comment is there to cast your vote or lack of, not point fingers. After all, one of our biggest rules is that applicants cannot reply to comments, so how can they defend themselves? The next time we see this, warnings will be issued and/or points taken.

As we enter the start of a new term with new Prefects, I'd like to announce a plan that Nika and I have been discussing. The details aren't set in stone, but we do know that we would like to give prizes to the top three most active members at our next change of term. We're still talking about how we'll decide, what will be given, etc, but we do know that it will be a real prize (i.e. sent via FedEx/UPS/SnailMail/Etc), worth real money. More details will be coming regarding this, but I wanted to give everyone a fair notice so that you can start participating like mad.

Lastly, as reminders of participation, don't forget about the icontests ([livejournal.com profile] hp_stillness and [livejournal.com profile] hp_chorus), and be on the lookout for your March In-House Contests to be hosted by your new Prefects shortly. Also, don't forget to enter the new Officials' Icons contest here! And as usual...
